Well I've joined a club and been to the first club night...

...and it was fantastic fun.

I payed up and joined Chiltern Archers along with my good friend Keith who also did a beginners course with me. We had a great time. Everyone friendly and very helpful. Didn't take us long to get over our nerves.

We shot at 20yards on a 60cm and managed 51 arrows, so very nearly completed a Portsmouth and I wasn't too tired by the end.

It's the first time I've shot that far and the first time I've shot at anything smaller than the 122s we used on the course.

Well after 51 arrows I'd scored 389, so was heading for about 460 according to Phil, very pleased with that!

Next week we are shooting a Bray I. I have a feeling that the 40cm target is going to be a bit of a shock!

Niceone!.

Phils a good lad, and he'll give you plenty of advice.

And yeah the small indoor faces are a massive culture shock!

Hi Iain,

Good to see you finally decided on which club to join!

I see you are still scoring very well. Scored 428 in my first Portsmouth last week using my new bow.

Hope to shoot against you again sometime.

S.

It works out best for us, specially as Keith works in Berko.

428 is an excellent first Portsmouth, how is the new bow?

Is there a day rate down at Howard Bowmen of some kind or other. My ou-laws live a fifteen minute walk away you see.

Only fee I know of is £1 for members. Probably £2 for non-members but in your case a fiver!

If you are going to be in the area, give me a PM or call (will PM you my number) and I will see if anyone with a key will be shooting.

Cheers

Sean
