National P.B.

With a good afternoon forcast, I got to Budleigh Farm to shoot another National. This round would give me an idea as to how fit I was as it was on the back of arrows shot last night at Tavistock.

Despite a tricky breeze (always is at Budleigh farm), came in with a new P.B. of 616, which as far as my personal records show, was 6 up on the previous of 610..(obviously). Well chuffed as you can imagine but well chuffed that a two day FITA field shouldn't be a problem concerning the number of arrows to be shot..two 6 dozen rounds back to back. Cool. And tonight I'm off to the local ramblers annual dinner and you know what..I'm going to stuff myself. With another good forcast tomorrow, I'll be walking the moor and archery can wait untill tuesday night.

Isn't it just about full moon. How do you account for your P.B.?

Given that the Oracle was alive in ancient Greece, maybe this explains the "O" in OB.

As for the magic wand I don't think we should go any further to what that implies.

Concerning the Full Moon, if you had read my thread carefully, you would have spotted that I put 110% into everything (which I should be doing anyway) around this period as my past diaries identified a problem with performance around a full moon period. Why, I don't know, but now I'm aware of any issues, I can work around the issues and problems and bingo, I have the correct mind set. How many others out there keep a diary of their archery performance(s) and log it to dates and cyclical movements of the moon or weather? Not many I bet?

I am not going to get in to a debate on this issue. I know that my views and yours will not coincide having read the other thread. This was in fact why I posted the message, as bit a of a stir really, but not done to offend. The response was what I expected. To me it would confirm my view, and I am sure to you it would confirm your view

Is this really because you shoot worse at full moon, or because the power of positive thought is a wonderful thing.

I think the mind is an incredibly powerful tool, both on the positive and on the negative side. If we believe something enough it is quite likely that we can make it happen.

As I said I am sure our views differ, and I am not trying to persuade you of my views. Just happy to put my side.

Coming back to the original message of the thread. Congratulations. Great shooting.

Believe it or not..I do keep an open mind on this issue of the moon. But I do tend to go for *there is an effect* rather than *there is no effect* but it is a close run thing. In the original thread about the moon I was asking the question of the forum members, "Have they considered that the moon and it's phase, might have an effect on their performance?" as someone who *coaches* then it has to be considered. I threw the question to the floor because in MY experience and by keeping diaries, it would appear that the moon does have an effect on performance (my own included) and for those people who are ignorant of the full moon phase. How about you, Flying Whale? have you kept a diary on your performances, i.e, when shot best, when shot crap? etc etc. Any patterns to performance, mood swings, doing stupid things that you can't explain?
And it takes a lot for me to be offended and I respect your argument..no problems at all..so please blast away..it makes for an interesting debate..which is what the thread was started for.

There you go you see..such a simple mistake as reading text (wind/wand)yet two very different meanings as to what the text meant to say. Now I could say that your basic error was caused by the moon......but I won't.

regardless of any debate, about magic or the effect of the moon it helps if you have talent, without that nothing happens. O.B. you have talent.

I can't claim to log my archery performances in my diary, but I do keep a daily diary, and have done since I was 13 (nearly 45 years!)

I wonder how much the "News of the World" would pay for them?
