The 2007 Bowman thread (or I know what you did last summer)

Last summer there was a very sociable thread amongst those of us chasing Bowman level for the first time (you know who you are). It was suggested that we might run an MB thread this year.

While I would love to get there, I am not sufficiently confident to make that a goal (since it might not be realistic this year).

The questions are.

1. Are you all realistically pushing for MB?
2. Are you just looking to consolidate the Bowman scores?
3. How much progress have you made towards it at this stage of the season?

Just to get the ball rolling.

My current plans have been to
a. get the winter blues out of my shooting.
b. try and get 3 bowman scores early (to guarantee my class for the year).
c. then I can then settle down without the pressure, to work on improving my form and maybe if I am lucky get consistently close to MB scores.

Last night I got the second Bowman score (in fact before starting the last end of a New National).

So come on. Tell us how its going...

This years Plans.

1 Attain a 900 Albion (Back to what I was shooting before I moved to compound)
2 Attain a 1200 FITA (Same as above)
3 Attain highest average over summer Outdoor Essex Albion League(missed out by 8 points last year)
4 Attain MB status (Same as 1+2)

Most of my goals aim to get back to where I was just after left the GB junior Team and moved upto Senior. 3 is to settle a score with myself and attain No.1 Rank in our summer leauge. I have never made it before even though my avereage has been well above the rest purely because I missed one of the shoots.

I've shot outdoors twice and gained 2 1st class scores with the wheelie bow - wouldn't mind shooting a long western or summit to see if I could get a bowman score, but it's back to recurve after this weekend.

I've got no real idea how my recurve shooting will be as my indoor season has been very topsy turvy.

MB... here I come

Already shot one score to regain my Junior Bowman class, which was just below what i needed for a senior bowman score

I would like to be getting up to JMB standard on FITA rounds by the end of the outdoor season, and be mid-high senior bowman

i feel bowmen and first class are way off for me yet , i bit more coaching needed i feel , but on the plus side i have shot 3 rounds and all are 2nd class scores, i set myself the goal of 2nd glass at 80yrd rounds ( first round shot was a western) so hopefully the albion i shoot at the weekend will be my 3rd score shot at 80 yrds and i will have my goal

Your Bowman qualification from 2006, lasts all the way through 2007, unless of course you make MB of GMB!!. Your highest achieved class in 2007 will be your 2008 classification .

If your 3 2nd class scores where obtained at competitions or club target days, then you are second class..

You are absolutely correct.

I perhaps did not make myself completely clear. If I can clear the BM scores soon then I have the whole of the rest of the year to concentrate on anything else without pressure. As soon as I make Bowman I have it for this year and next. Imagine having the best part of 20 months before my class drops back (assuming I don't manage 3 BM scores in 2008)

Hopefully this makes more sense of the goals.
