Merlin Triads Declaration

Merlin Archery have kindly agreed to sponsor my supply of Triad stabilizers after I used them to win the National Indoor title. I would like to stress that I chose and paid for two Triad setups myself after testing them against a variety of other rods. I am therefore accepting this sponsorship based on the fact that it is a product I believe in, have succesfully used and have previously paid for myself.

Ceri

I have been fortunate to have been able to try several different sets from manufacturers such as Doinker and Soma. I am not disrespecting their products as I found them to be all very good but not just quite right for me.

In cost terms the MAC setup compares very favourably to some of the other setups available. Based on my use we have 2 of our club members who have bought Triad's recently. One is a junior girl recurve and she is using them very succesfully as rods only without weights. She has a short Triad extender and a quick release. It seems to balance her bow out perfectly.

The important thing to remember if you buy them is to experiment with the tuner weights. Don't just assume they will work best for you out of the box. Pick a nice day to go and shoot at 60 or 70m and move the front weight slightly - I move it about 1/4", shoot 3 ends and compare the groupings. Some effort will pay off.

Thanks Wendy,

Ive tried various types but couldnt find any i liked to upgrade my current ones with, and then someone suggested the triads, but i didnt know anyone that had been using a set for a while and the only person i knew that had a set didnt hae a clue about them and "just got them". so having a review from someone who has been shooting a set for a while is handy, so i think ill take a trip to MAC in april and see.

I'm also looking at some new stabilizers as mine are on the verge of falling apart... again.

For me... its only the issue of going to MAC to try them out (tis a long way for me... even from home)

It's wonderful to hear that these stab are your choice and there's certainly nothing wrong with them if you used them to win the I.N's.
Couple this pedigree with your own credibility and it really is a sponsorship that should suit everyone......except any competition.

and they just look so damn coooooooooooool. I haven't had the chance to shoot them myself but would love them bits..especially now!

So then....you're carrying around a couple of sets that you don't now need then eh?

Sorry need all my Triads as I am going to open a Triad farm to see if I can breed them

One set I have was made to a special length and weight for shooting in the wind - something you would find difficult to get from most manufacturers.

Anyone who see's me at a shoot is more than welcome to come and have a look, put one on your bow and see how it feels and it is always nice to meet new AIUK members.

Can I ask what changes you made for shooting in the wind?

I usually shoot with a 28" longrod but for wind I had a shorter 18" rod made with extra weight on the end to give a similar feel and balance to the 28" longrod. This shorter rod seems to work much better for me when it is very windy. Mild to moderate wind, the standard length rod is best.
