binary cam question

It appears to me that with the binary cam system that they are set with a 75% let off .So to get a 65% let off it is nescessary to move the post on the top cam to the required position . However it seems to me that you are not on the cam flats at this point. Question 1. does that reduce the bows performance ? Question 2. does it make the bow spongy with only one point stopping the draw. Question 3. is there a way of getting a 65% let off and keeping the flats and the post on all together.I have not got binary cams but I am nosey.

The 2005 binary cam was draw length specific, i.e. no module change for draw length, so you could move the post for desired let off. The later module change for draw length bows need setting up so that the mods hit the buss cables as the post hits the limb to get the positive stop. Longer draw length equates to higher let off.

Yes I understand that but what bothers me is that on the latest versions if you move the post to achieve a lower ie 65% let off the cams move away from the cables.Perhaps they shoot ok like that but it doesn't look right to me.I feel a new design coming on.

Yeah, with the 2006/07 binary cams the 65% let-off basically just stops the rotation a tad early so the "valley" is a bit well drastic..... It's solid mind you.

The let off is determined by module, ie, longer draw length, higher let off

What if you want a long DL and a low let off?

I shoot fingers and just over 30.5" DL, and I am looking at the 2007 Constitution. From what has been said so far I will be fine on DL, but the let off will be too high for finger release.

Module determines DL on 2006 Bowtech. The quoted DL will give 80%(ish) let-off. Any other let-off is achieved by moving drawstop to stop cam rotating before 80% let-off (which is also when cables contact module stops).

Although in theory this does affect your DL in practice the back slope into the valley is very steep so a change from 80% (ie full) let-off to 65% letoff on the same module will only make a very small DL change. Guess you could use a longer module to compensate if you wanted a lot less let-off (eg 50%).

Thanks P.

The trouble is I want MORE DL. Max DL on the 07 Constitution is 30.5". Kev at WAS tells me he can ease that up to the 30.75" I need. Next time I'm there I will ask about let off.

Looks like you're on the limit then. Tho it's also amazing what can be achieved with a few twists in the cables...... but that's the "unofficial" stuff. However, Kev's definately your man on that one.

It's OK because the nock travel is flat around full draw so you can pretty much do what you like there.
Actual letoff % doesn't matter, how much you pull into the wall does.
