| bohning x vanes question i'll be recieving my Bohning x-vanes pretty soon and just have a couple of (possibly silly) questions for all you guys & gals who are using them. Firstly, do you fletch them parallel to the shaft or at a slight offset? Secondly, how far down the shaft have you got them? I've seen from a couple of the shaft wrap photos that they look quite far down the shaft, certainly further than my spin wings are. Thirdly, I'm assuming my 120deg lines for the spins are no good for X-vanes and they need to be put on using a standard fletching jig. If so i'd better get some wraps as my silver lines are hanging on for dear life ![]() thanks in advance...

| When I use the "normal" sorts of vanes, I have a very slight off set angle and less than an inch from the nock. I would use a standard jig as the glue will tend to dry slowly compared to tape. | |||||||||||

| Hi Robbo (boo hiss etc )Been using X-Vanes for a while now....I have only ever fletched them straight and have from time to time changed the position on the shaft in relation to the nock. Like geoff, mine are a little over an inch from the nock and have proven to be quite resilient - once I stopped using fletch-tite. T.

![]() Joking aside, thanks for the replies. I've been using spins for so long that i've forgotten what a straight fletch is ![]()

| I'm using the 2.25 inch X-Vanes, standard 120 degree separation with a slight offset to them I would say 2 degrees or so, I have them fairly close to the nock about 10mm away. They seem to be OK have survived when stopping my arrows passing through a target, that would have destroyed my spin wings. Photos of good groups

| I've been using the 1.5" Shield Cut X-Vanes for quite a while now. I've tried them with a good offset, slight offset and straight. Made no difference at all, so went with a very slight offset (almost straight). I have them about 1/2" from the nock. Fantastic vanes, have survived quite a few pass-throughs with ease. | |||||||||||||||

| i am using 1.5"x vane shield cut at 2 degree offset and 1.25" from the knock they have been great not replaced on yet

| when I get the time (and because I can) I will be fletching a couple of X7's with 6 1.5 shields.....just to see what the results are like. T.

| i've just ordered a batch of 1.75" shield cut vanes (aardvark are out of 1.5 and don't know when they can get some more). Reckon i'll start with an offset of 1 deg about 1" from the nock and see how they go. thanks for the feedback, been very useful.
