Selling Up

Hi

As the family have now given up on archery (me included) we have a number of bows to off load - 4 compounds and all of the kit that goes with them.

As nobody in our club really shoots compound would eBay be the best place to offload them and roughly when is the best time of year?

Example -

Bowtech Old Glory less than 1 year old
Copper John Ants EVO II
Beiter 39mm
Doinker A-Bomb Carbon Elite
Stan Super quad
Easton Navs FMJ (shot once)
Aurora Case
Tackle box with laser / jigs etc

My wifes bow (Bowtech Tribute) has only been shot twice since she purchased it.

anytime of the year. always use 10 day listings. You could put them in the classifieds on here. I would be interested in knowing the prices and specs of some of the items.

Ebay's as good a place as any, although you could try Archery Auction or the classifieds section of this very forum, as you'll find you're more likely to get sensible offers from genuine archers...

Ebay: Describe the items fully, if the spec is complete and the photographs are good, then you will get a good price.

You may find that splitting them up into separate auctions will get a higher price, but it is more of a pain in time and aggro from your point of view. If you are familar with ebay, split the items. If you are not, sell them as four complete bow kits with all the accessories, but sell the arrows separately as people pay silly money on ebay for them.

Take pictures outdoors and in sunny weather, pictures must be good to get top prices.

Start the auctions Thursday night about 8:00pm (20:00, remember Ebay use 24hrs clock, you don't want them ending 8:00am!) and for 10 days, so they catch two weekends, ending on a sunday night.

If Top Gear is on TV at time of auction, end them 7:30 or 9:30pm to avoid the program. Seriously, this makes a difference in the male market. (I have run 2000+ auctions for work and home).

I recommend UK only auctions.

If selling worldwide, do not ship abroad using Royal Mail International Signed For service. Should the item go missing then they will not consider looking for it for 30 days and will not confirm signature/delivered successfully or missing item for 60 days after that. If the buyer knows this, they can say it is missing, file a complaint with Paypal which will be resolved in their favour in 14 days as you cannot (yet) provide proof of delivery. After the refund, you have seven days to appeal, after which the case is permanently closed, so when you find out it *was* delivered two months later, you are out of pocket.

Sending TNT/DHL or other courier abroad is much more expensive but avoids the issues as they track properly and deliver in under 7 days.

You can block non-uk bidders in your Ebay preferences section under My Ebay.

All the best,

Ivan

Definitely split them up into their separate components. It creates more work but you'll get a lot more money out of them in the long run.

There are/were some people who buy kit packages from Ebay and sell off the components individually because they can make so much by doing that.

Not really fussed about making more money by splitting - happy to dump it all in 1 lot and someone else can make themselves a few bob.

How much would you want for the Bowtech Old Glory, as I want to get myself a spare bow that is the same as my current one.

Cheers

Looking at this list of quality stuff I think you'd be missing out in the order of hundreds of pounds, not a few bob, not listing separately. Of course it's your money...
