| I don't know the bow but with good drawlength adjustment you are on the right track. When moving to compound from recurve, expect the draw length setting of the bow to be at least 1" shorter than your recurve draw length. That is to allow for the space taken up by the release aid, if you go that way. Try to avoid shooting with the draw length set too long for you; it can feel nice but it doesn't help in the long run. If you use a release aid, get one that can have a stiff trigger. When you shoot, try to lean on the trigger with finger or thumb(depending on the type) Lean more heavily until the release activates. If it goes off at the slightest touch, it can add anxiety that is best avoided. Best advice though, is to get things set up under the guidance of someone who is well informed. |

| I take it that the 43 lbs your draw weight and not you draw lenght. In which case you might as well go for a 50 to sixty pound bow, with a let off of 65% will mean a holding weight of around 24 lbs So what is your draw lenght and is it stable? As for the Browning I think you could do better than that for the money. Read what Marcus said about older bows. In particular the Hoyt Protech and Mathews bows. I n the 'Buying old equipment, Good or bad ' thread. If you have a draw lenght between 27 and 29 there is a conquest 4 on ebay at the moment

| Quite a bit of discussion on this thread... http://www.archery-interchange.com/f...ow-please.html So I won't repeat it all. Mods: any chance of having a thread with general advice like this stickied up please, as it seems a common query. P.

| That would be nice. I've been considering it and trawling through pages of threads (the search function is pretty poor) is a little long winded. |
