Replacement string/ cables for Barnett Commando 2 crossbow

A long, long time ago following a shoulder injury I bought a Barnett Commando 2 compound crossbow, just for the heck of it. This served me well until the last of my strings gave up resulting in cables stripped of their coating and a sheared 'teardrop' - this was around 3 years ago.

I'd put the crossbow to one side and pretty much forgot about it until recently when my passion for archery returned. The commando 2 is now discontinued and as far as I'm aware Barnett UK no longer exist. The US site have drawn a blank and as yet have been unable to suggest a source for spares or give technical specs on the crossbow to have custom strings/ cables made up.

If anyone has the commando 2 and can advise on where I can obtain string/ cables I'd really appreciate it. Failing that, if anyone can supply me with the relevant technical info on the crossbow (string length/ material/ strand count etc), I'd be forever in your debt. I'd very much like to shoot this crossbow again!

Thanks and kind regards,

Phil

Thanks numpty, unfortunately that's for a recurve and it appears to be from a different maker. The Commando 2 has 150 draw weight and packs quite a punch. Cheers for the heads up anyway!

Pyroarch57, that seems like a very reasonable offer but to be honest I would like to get the commando 2 up and running again..... if I can!

120lb Commando Crossbow
A full sized fibreglass stock cross bow with a 120lb draw weight. #### the bow by placing your foot in the stirrup and pulling the string into the safety catch. The safety catch automatically engages. Release the safety catch to shoot.
Definately a different model! The Barnett Commando 2 is self cocking with an extended shoulder brace that pivots at the base of the grip. The stock has channels for two runners that are attached to the brace, these runners draw the string back as the prod is braced against the floor and 'broken' like a gun - it works surprisingly well with the 150# it has to draw.

Ok no probs. I'm sorry it wasnt the right type. You could still give them a ring on Tuesday to see if they could get it for you.

Many thanks!

All of my searches have so far drawn a blank - there seems to be no consistent information on the technical specs of the Commando II specifically string material/ strand count and length. The Maruader model on the Merlin site does have a similar prod setup and wheel arrangement. I do not want to try to 'guess' the string and cable details as these crossbows can be quite fearsome when they fail, but I may be forced in to doing so.

I'll contact Merlin and see if they can help.

Cheers.
