| If weight is an issue there is a compound version of the shib ultima which is in your price range and (if it's anything like my Recurve Ultima) will be nigh on bomb proof. Weight no issue then Sureloc is still pretty good but make sure you get a 10/32 thread holder.

| Sure loc make it pretty clear on their packaging that all warranty/manufacturers guarantees are void if a recurve sight is used on a compound and from memory I think Shibuya do to. |

| I would imagine a compound sight will be sturdy in comparison.... it has more force to deal with. Of course.... I'm waffling and will stand corrected ![]()

| Recurve sights don't stand up very long on a compound (neither do many compound sights also). If you look at a slo mo of a compound being shot you will see why, you wouldn't believe metal could bend so much. The additional weight of the scope being thrown around puts a huge strain on the sight components. A recuve sight without a scope will last a while but with a scope you would be lucky to get through sighters. |

| I use a merlin omega sight which is listed as a recurve sight on both my recurve bow and my compound. But it is of sturdy construction. It originally came with a 8/32 thread for recurve. But merlin supplied me with a 10/32 for my scope. I have had no problems in 9 months of use at approx 200 arrows per week.

| It may be cheaper to make one sight that will survive a compound and sell it for recurve as well.

| you could ask John Cavanagh what he uses, as he's not allowed a scope on his compound.

| Aha - what do you mean by a recurve sight? If you mean one sold and manufactured for recurves, then all the advice about it rapidly shaking to pieces holds true. If you mean one that doesn't have a magnifying scope then that is perfectly OK, and you are tending towards the "Compound Limited" set up (which allows for a level and a peep, but only finger release)

| Go compound. Compound sights have bigger threads for the sight ring/scope and are more chunky then the recurve version for a good reason.
