Bow left or right handedness?

Is it possible to shoot a right handed bow, left handed? I ask as being left handed my choice of right handed bows is limited, especially on the used market. Obviously most of the Hoyt bows will be no good as they have the Tech riser getting in the way, however, all of the Matthews, PSE, Bowtech type risers seem the same both ways round, and the grip is quite simple on a compound. So can they be universal? I know the scope will be on the other side I am used to, but is there any other difference?

I'm not a compound archer so I may be wrong, but aren't there 'universal' shoot-through risers - I think I've seen them in alt.services literature (?)

you might have an issue with the threaded hole(s) for the rest...will the bolts screw in correctly if they are inserted from the other side?

you could learn to shoot RH

Hi Tark, you miss understand, the bow would be set up as any other right handed bow, it would be just held in the other hand. I intend to test this when I go the the club on Friday. Any none Hoyt bow will do, I need to find a willing archer to let me have a go.

I would shoot right hand but my right eye has an a astigmatism that prevents this, ie I can't see to well out of it.

There's a photo somewhere of a top European female compound archer shooting right handed but aiming with her left eye. If I find it I'll let you know.

wow, not sure how she would anchor. but the pic would be interesting. I need to continue shooting left handed, however I see no reason why I can't shoot a right hand bow. The only difference I can see is the sight being on the other side, that would not bother me.

About shooting right handed compound left handed. Cables will be problem, you canīt have bow in your hand that cables wonīt touch your hand.
So, shoot left handed and buy left handed bow. Or learn to shoot right handed, donīt do anything else.

That looks really strange! Why does she do it?

But has anyone got an idea if a right hand bow can be shot both ways round???
