| interesting technique In a moment of relaxation I came across this on utube: YouTube - Archer Shoots FOB Arrow at 100 Yards I have got to say i have never seen anyone draw a bow like this. It looks like the shoulder may dislocate at any time. I have no intentions of trying it but thought I would invite comments.

| LOL someone at my club shoots exactly like this! and thats entirely because he really struggles to get his bow back ![]() |

| unorthodox to say the least. He is a hunter though so probably stupidly high poundage.

| Very common in bowhunters in the US. The PSE holding steady video has a guy doing the same thing. I ripped PSE on it on their forums and they defended it saying it was fine. Ignoring the fact that the arrow was pointing 45° in the air at maximum bow power. Disaster waiting to happen.

| The thing to remember is that this guy is a hunter and that means he is probably using around 70 lbs and more importantly an 80% let off. This allows you to draw the bow first and get settled after that. Its should also be pointed out that he is using a wrist release aid which means he can keep his finger off the trigger on the top of the release aid when he is drawing, (if you look you can see that the finger does not go to the trigger until he is ready to shoot) also there is no chance of him brushing his face with the thumb and setting off the release while he is getting to his anchor. Just looking at his draw I would also say that his draw is more compact than the standard method which is important when you are in amoungst the bushes and trying not to make any noise that will scare off your dinner.Yes the initial draw angle is high but where he is he is not going to hit anybody else and if there was anybody near where he was aiming you can bet the prey animal he was after would be long gone.

| I've seen a very good NFAS compound (shoots with a pin sight and fingers) archer draw in a similar fashion, but I think this was because he had a shoulder injury and couldn't draw the bow normally. At no time did he point the arrow up in the air, and he did seem to get the shot on his back afterwards. Damn good shot as well - his score was up there with the unlimited shooters. |
