Staffords for compounds

I have my first Stafford round coming up this weekend (6doz. 30m 80cm face) and there are just a couple of questions I have.

As it's an indoor round I'm assuming that compounds are shooting inner tens, yes??

If this is the case might it be worth shooting thicker arrows than my normal carbons?? Outdoors I usually shoot my Axis FMJ's on Frostbites and Short Metrics as these have slightly better line-cutting abilities than ACE's. But as there's no wind indoors might it be worth shooting the X7's??

I know it's a single face and that I'll be sharing with three recurvers who might not appriciate me banging really thick arrows into the middle... but I also want to get every point going.

So thoughts on which arrows to shoot please!! (at 30m sightmarks for X7's and FMJ's are the same)

Also, can someone tell me where Wenlock Hall at Lillieshall is?? I've only shot outside there.

Compounds certainly use the inner 10 ring.

My club is running a Stafford next weekend in Milton Keynes and have offered half size faces to avoid the arrow bumping. Not as many have taken up the offer as I thought might so the 100 half size faces should last us a year or two.

Can't comment on the arrow size since I will be shooting recurve and ACEs.

X7's

Wenlock hall is the one adjacent to the main car park. When you go through the barrier to the field you pass it on the left.

So you want to park in the main car park and just walk in.

I shot a Stafford not so long ago...and I wished I had used ACEs.
I was on target with two other compounds and a good recurve and we were all shooting 2314 X7s...I personally ended up with so many deflections I was 12 points down on my average by the end of the round.

I think that was with me, and there was me wishing i used my fmj's!! I definitly had a couple of heavy deflections but made up for by the line cutters. Luckily not too many broken arrows, just a few busted nocks! I think the four of us all shooting 2314's was the exception rather than the rule though.

Use X7s if you can would be my advice. Whatever you feel happiest shooting indoors.

arrows

I use 2315s indoors, they are good enough, and cheap enough, if they do get rear ended I don't have a fit over the price. In fact I have rear ended a couple of them myself, and the collar that the nock inserts into took all the force, the arrow shat was left completely ok. Good luck with the shoot
