F.O.B. Fletching Replacements

This may have been asked before but are these Starrlight F.O.B.s legal or even useful for target shooting? I'm not advocating usage, I was just wondering. It's an interesting concept.

Watch_man has been using them for about 6 months. Before he bought them he made enquiries and they are FITA legal.

Yes, I have been using them for a while. I have tried them indoors and shot them at the AIUK Iron Man.

They work very well in the wind, I have tried them with Axis FMJ's and with a strong side wind they worked better than normal fletches. However in still conditions there is no difference IMHO

Indoors I have used them on X7's and seem to perform about the same as a 4" vane in stabilising the arrow.

The drawbacks are:

You need a fall away rest
They are not so good if you have more than one archer per target

They were originally designed for hunting and are no doubt excellent for that purpose. For Field they work well too, however you may find normal fletches better for pure target.

Cheers guys. I hadn't thought about it but the area of target these things might obscure could be quite large. Like I say, interesting - especially some of the vids on You-Tube.

I'd guess you'd have to carry a sack of spares for shooting target?

You forgot to mention Trev, that they are good for Mike to shoot "friar tucks" when sharing a target with you

Forgot all about that

and Custard - no, I've only had 2 damaged in the time I have been using them as they tend to pop off, however as re-fletching takes 3 seconds its not a huge issue.
