Question Quiktune quick tune?

As I'm new to the dark side I'd like a little advice from you good guys please. I've just bought a Quiktune 1000 launcher and (after finally finding an imperial Allen key) have managed to fit it to my bow.

How do I know if the angle of the launcher is correct (I've found it a little fiddley to set this up but used my old launcher as a guide)?

Also, how will I know whether to make the resistance stronger or weaker? Will it be obvious when I shoot with it for the first time?

Apologies if this is all a bit basic. There are only 2 compound shooters at our club, both novices, and our coaches have never shot compound.

Cheers.
L

I always set the angle so the arrow goes either midway through the button hole or sits in the top half of the button hole. Re tension, it needs to be stiff enough so as to support the arrow through the draw stage but soft enough to drop out of the way when released. I find the best way to see if the rest is set ok is to spray my arrow vanes with Mycil athletes foot spray so they have a nice complete layer of white power, then shoot them (surpisingly the powder does stay on!) If there is any contact through the rest being too firm or soft then the fletching will have their powder rubbed off where contact is made and there will be a white deposit where on the item that made the contact (also works for setting up cable guide clearance).

Hi there,
I had a 1000 on a compound bow I borrowed from the club. When I bought my own bow I went for the 3000. Basically you can adjust everything on it. NAP, the company who make the rests have a good website, google "New Archery Products". They give really good feedback if you have any problems. Are you using prongs or Lizard Tongue?
Regards,
Gonk

I'm using prongs at the moment and will check out the website. I've also found some foot powder (amazing what accumulates in your cupboards over time isn't it?) and will give it a go tonight. I've adjusted the launcher as Sambow suggested but it seems awfully vertical. I guess I may have to drop my nocking point...?

Cheers for the advice.

Its better lower than higher, but the lower you go, the greater the potential of interference with the shelf. Make sure your knocking point is higher than the rest so the arrow is pointing ever so slightly down so the knock leaves the string higher than the point else this may cause interference. Then once you are sure you have no clearance issues with the spray method you would be advised to fine tune for example using paper tuning.

Thanks a lot guys. It worked a treat. Without much tuning at all I was 3 points off my pb (and I've tinkered with some other bits and bobs) so all in all I was really pleased.

Cheers,
L
