Multi use sports pitches and we dont want the ****** or rugby or cricket players skewered with a lost carbon, so no lightspeeds, redlines, bemans, etc.
reminds me of a while ago when our local Rugby club had a monster truck display on the pitch during the summer months (along with the normal caravan club meetings) - complete with trucks driving over other cars. The players went round the pitch with buckets at the start of the season collecting bits of metal and glass - where were Health & Safety then?

Once again, thanks for all the useful advice. Looks like I will be OK shooting my Navigator 430's at all distances initially, with only moderate risk of damage. This is useful, because my launcher (Golden Key) has the 'Vee' blade with the little bent up hornes on the end - a little wider by the looks of it to the one Marcus uses, but OK for the Navigator. I have a few X10's (rescued from eBay) which look as though they might need a narrower launcher.

I was a little disappointed with the accessory set that came with the GK launcher. The 'Golden Arm' for carbons was a very poor fit in the bug clunky twin prong shaft, and there was no other mounting shaft supplied, other than the one for the Vee blade. Fortunately, being an engineer, I am machining up another which will fit better - I will probably make a spoon for it as well in due course. Currently no-one seems to have any stock of the carbon arm for the GK launcher.

Here is a question if anyone knows the answer - with a spring back launcher, what position is the launcher in as the fletchings pass over? Is it still depressed part way (like a drop away), or is it sitting back up close to the shaft? The answer to this would help determine how narrow the launcher blade would need to be in relation to the shaft diameter and the fletchings.

Try going to http://www.wernerbeiter.com They may well have some high speed video of launchers in use. I do recall having seen some, but I don't remember it's provenance. I'll try to find out.

If you're going to Canada, I suggest you check out http://www.archersnook.com/index.html before you go. I've used them lots (there's a good guy called Richard there) and they are excellent.
