Launcher & Nocking Point

Being reletively new to the dark arts of compound, I am puzzling over a strategy which seems to be fairly common with compounders (is it?), which is to change from expensive arrows used at longer distance, to cheaper arrows for shorter distance. This being particulary useful for FITA's, where an ACE or X10 might be used for the longer distance, while somethnig like and ACC might be used at 30M to avoid the risk of arrow damage in a crowded gold.

This would suggest to me that the nocking point might be affected during a tornament due to the significant difference in arrow diameter. Does this matter and how do people adjust for it?

On the regulations side - I assume you just bring both sets of shafts for the judges inspection - is there anything else that needs to be done to avoid upsetting anyone?

I am guilty of this one (only on fitas as smashing aces at 50 & 30M is too rich for me) I havnt found this to be a problem but I always tell my target companions and as you say inform the judge at inspection.

There is a compromise in setup especially because the acc is larger in Dia than an Ace or Navi, I tune to the navigator and compromise in ACC setup.

No, that is not common with compounders. I donīt know any compounder who changes arrows to cheaper ones in shorter distance.

Why change shafts? The arrows you start with will do for all distances, it's suprising how few arrows are damaged at 30 and 50 meters, more damage is done pulling them from inferior Italian bosses that are everywhere now at comps. If you do change arrows, you just need to drop or raise your rest to keep the arrow just above centre but I can't understand why you would do this. At inspection, all arrows you will shoot are checked, so make sure you have your initials on them, not the fletchings!

Well you do now..It seems there is three of us from the same club doing it this season. No way am I shooting expensive arrows at 30m, I may risk it at 50m. I lost two ACE's last year in the same end, I shot right through and ACE with another one at 30m, both were unusable after that.

No, pretty much every arrow I saw broken last season (with two exceptions) had broken because of the f**king terrible glue-filled piece-of-sh*t Italian bosses.

And if you're good... it's even worse. Why? Because they give you a NEW boss so as to avoid passthroughs and so you're shooting into what's effectively a huge lump of very solid glue.

Don't have that problem with foam bosses !

Oh, I know, and I shoot on those as often as I can.

Problem is, foam bosses take up space. And the average tournament organiser sees that their shipping container storage can hold 20 foam bosses or around 50 straw ones, and goes with straw.

I don't know any top shooter that does it either.
INteresting Medoc that you change from a poor long range arrow to a good long range arrow for 30m. X10 to Navigator yes, but ACE to Navigator? Maybe the other way around.
