going down in draw weight in a Guardian

Hello,

Following Marcus advise finally I have bought a Guardian. I am quite happy with the choice, but I have a doubt. According to the owner manual you shouldn't decrease the draw weight more than 10 lbs. is that absolutely true? I have the idea that you could go even lower without too much worry. If this is true, how much lower can I go without risks for the bow and myself...
Thanks again.

Ornias

Hi, if you want to go down in draw weight by that much perhaps you should have bought a lighter poundage bow! The limb bolts on the Guardian can only come out so far to be safe. IMO, I wouldn't go les than 5lb of the peak weight on any compound, especially the Guardian.

hi ornias, (nice bow choice btw =) )

id say your limit on the bow would be loosing just 10lb, i tend to find that bows droped right to the lowest is a bit flimsy compared to nearer its peak weight, but, thats the reason you chose 50-60, to work up.

id drop it to 50 and keep shooting it, and when you cant shoot it, just draw it at home, to get more used to the draw weight.

id say do about 500 repertitions/shots a week, and after the 2nd week, put the lb up a turn, then try that, see how it is after a week, move up, this will make the bow react overall better, and you will get more and more used to the lb.

How far do you want to go?
You can take a Guardian down to about 35# in order to unstring it.
I would not go too much less than 15# if you can help it.
However 10# is the recommended by the manufacturer, but that's just to make life easy for them.

I would drop that to 45# quite happily.

On the Guardian you can see the arm where the limb bolt goes into has 2 holes. The hole closes to the limb you can see the limb bolt.
Do not unwind the bolt past this hole. That is the only thing to watch.

Ok. I will begin at 50 #, but I am more at ease if I know I can go even lower. I have yet to set up the bow with the help of the compounders of my club. Looking forward to having a go with it¡
As always thank for the suggestions.
Ornias.

hi thier depending on what poundage bow you have i wouldnt go down to low because any bow performs best at mid to top end range and you would br defeating the object by taking it to low so if your bow is 50 to 60 lb and you got it on the lowest it will go then you would be better getting a 40 to 50 lb and having it close to top end poundage i shoot the gaurdian bow and mine is better at top end hope this helps roger
