Stupid mistake - locked Guardian at full draw

OK, I have made a stupid mistake and need some advice on what to do next.

I was changing the modules on my Guardian, and once they were off I decided in a stupid moment of madness to draw the bow. Dont ask why...

Now, the cams have turned right over and are locked, as there were no modules to stop it.

What can I do?

Looking at the manual, you should be able to let the weight right off. It will certainly be difficult to get it in a bowpress!

Quote from manual:
The Guardian and Commander Center Pivot Bows do not require the use of a bow
press to replace string and cables or to adjust the bows draw weight.
To adjust draw weight, equally backoff both limb bolts counter-clockwise
(1 full turn = approximately 2–5 lbs). In order to maintain optimum efficiency,
it is recommended that you do not decrease the draw weight more than 10 Lbs.
To replace string, cables or install a peep sight, back the limb bolt out 5
turns on one end then alternate to the other end, repeating this process until
the end of the limb bolt is just visible in the limb bolt viewing hole in the
riser (Approx. 3 threads visible). String tension will be minimal allowing you
to work on the bow as needed.

If that doesn't work, back to the dealer.......

The problem is the limbs are fully tensioned because it is effectively at full draw. I don't have a bow press to compress the limbs to get any slack off, so I guess its to the shop to see what they can do.

oooohhhh that's funny. Hope you get it sorted without trouble.
When you take it make sure the bows is well covered so if it blows in the car you don't get hit with anything.

I have a hard case so it is does off then I wont get hit. I just hope that it can stay in that position without distorting the limbs.

Thanks.

As it happens this was easily fixed. Somebody at the club had a draw board that we used to *carefully* turns the cams over. We added a bit of tension on the string, and while turning the cams over and making sure the string was still aligned on the cams, we slackened off the string bit by bit. Eventually the cams got over the hump and the bow was let down.

This was definately a two man job and not something that one person could do even with the right equipment.

As for the bow, its all working just as before, no twisted cams, limbs etc. All the cams timings are spot one etc and its as deadly as ever

Moral of the story...dont draw the bow with no modules

along with many people on aiuk I am extremely pleased it was sorted out, relatively easily.
I have to admit to being amused at your original post, cos that's exactly the sort of thing I would do, and it's saved me the embarerrsment of having to ask the self same questions in the forum so have a and relax buddy
