| My partner has just started the foray into shooting compound, we did exactly as you've mentioned, drew up a lsit of candidates that were available in her draw length and weight and just tried them. She tried many bows, but eventually settled on the BowTech Equalizer. Its a fantastic bow, much lighter than most on the market and with practically no vibration or shock from the shoot. Only drawback that she found was the limited colour range, although hers does look fantastic in testarossa. Hope this helps.

The Allegiance has been enhanced by eliminating virtually all cam lean by moving more mass to the centre of the cam. Design improvements in the riser have yielded weight savings that combined with improved cam performance have produced a bow that is one of the finest. The Allegiance combination of Vertical Force Technology and improved Binary Cam System delivers performance through increased efficiency – transferring a higher level of stored energy to the arrow. The Allegiance gives you a choice of two different modules allowing you to select the shooting characteristics, terminal velocity or smooth-as-silk, either in half-inch draw length increments. Brace Height: 7 1/4" Peak Draw Weight: 50–60–70 Draw Length: 26 1/2" to 30 1/2" Axle to Axle: 33 1/4" IBO Speed (smooth mod): 317– 325 fps (speed mod): 327– 335 fps CBA offer excellent service and great prices. Alegiance - Custom Built Archery I personally would go for the Testarossa,Matte Black, with red cams Best Regards and Happy shopping John

| Bowtech Allegiance in Firestorm Grey. Hands down the best bow for those specs. Also if mass weight is not an issue look at the Hoyt UltraElite XT2000.

| i would say along the lines of the bowtech allegence/101st (very fast), the hoyt ultra elite2000, or mathews switchback. all depends which store you go to ofc, but effectively, phone up before hand and make sure they have the right supply for you =) |

| Marcus, i'm intrigued, so do you rate the allegiance over the equalizer? I've heard the equalizer has a bit of a harsh draw-force curve, but other than that i've only heard good things about it?

| It's essentially the same bow but only goes to 27" draw length.

| Ah ok. I knew the riser and limbs were essentially (exactly?) the same but i thought the cams were different, which made it a bit harsher to draw, but also faster than the allegience or the guardian with short draw mods. However i have no experience of either, only have the marketing spiel to go on!

| Mark Just been through the same process with the other half some 4 months ago, she selected the Mathews Drenalin primarily due to it being so light and I must admit it is around half the weight of mine at around 5lbs. But the best is to travel to a dealer who has a number of makes & models to get a feel of them. best of luck.

| Thanks everone for your advice. We went to Wales Archery on Saturday and Julie tried:- Bowtech Guardian Bowtech Commander Bowtech Allegiance (2006 Model) Hoyt 737 Hoyt Ultra Elite XT2000. All of which were miles better than the vipertec. The Allegiance was favorite for a while and as soon as she tried the last bow (the Guardian) the decision was made. So she is now the proud owner of a smoke grey(?) Bowtech Guardian. She thought that the vibration dampaning was more effective on the Guardian than on the Allegiance. Also , it seems(?), Bowtech no longer do the Allegiance in the 40 to 50Llb draw weights, and she really did want a brand new Bow. I tried all the bows as well (I had to do something while waiting for her to make up her mind over which colour to have) and I think I would have chosen the Allegiance out of the list she tried. But would I swap my Switchback XT for the Allegiance ? One day maybe (but it would be the same day that George W Bush receives the Nobel Peace Prize). ![]() But once again thank you everyone for your advice. Best Regards Mark l |
