Another peep Question

Was wondering would i be right in assumming that the scope should appear inside the hole of the peep with out a gap around the scope? (o) or should you be able to see a gap ((o)) whats your opinion.

peep

Hi Gerry,
The peep is there to help you line up the back end of the shot, as it were.
A very small hole will give a dark view of the target and show only part of the front scope, assuming the front scope is large. If the peep can be centralised around a feature of the front scope; like a dot on the lens or a ring on the lens or on the scope barrel itself, then it will do the job as intended. Bear in mind, the easier it is for you to see the centralising, the easier it is to get the shot away. Some peeps make it tedious to find the central position and the struggle can adversly affect the quality of the shot.
All the best
Geoff

I'm not sure it matters, so long as you can get a consistent picture.

I like to see a little space around the scope body, as I can judge the allignment better, that way. I could also see it working, if I brought the scope in so that I was just centreing the ring, within the peep.

I tried it with just a dot on the scope and no view of the scope body, and found it inconsistent. The dot was just too small compared to the area I was trying to centre it in. I've ended up with a ring, as I find that easier to use in poor light - the dot just disappeared on me when the light started going.

What you can achieve with the picture will depend on the size of the peep hole, the size of the scope, how far the peep is from your eye and how much sight extension you use.

i prefer a little gap around the scope ! so its easy to center the scope in your peep wich is good for precise shooting !!!!
