| consistancy???? Archery and frustration have the same root, so far as I am concerned, one day I am excellent, the next day really bad, and yet as far as I can determine I don't change anything, same b ow, same release, same arrows, same anchor point, all equal one thing in my case frustration, any help would be gratefully recieved, oh yeah been shooting since November 2005. ![]() |

| consistency Hi Zanda, A year in archery is a very short time. That said, sometimes the ups and downs are partly due to the frame of mind you are in, not just on the day but in general terms. Some people find that a good start sets them up for the whole day/round. A bad start gets them wondering what's wrong and then the mind focuses on things other than the shot. If the mind has doubts about the technique, disappointment follows and the shooting suffers. It would be useful to list the way you feel and any thinking that you do on the good days and the not so good. The more information there is to work on, the better the advice should be. Another aspect is obviously the technique itself. Some techniques are very sound even though the refinement hasn't developed very far. Other techniques look good and give good results on occasions but they are fragile and easily upset. Keep in touch Geoff |

| Zandra, It depends how you define consistency? As you say you have only been shooting since 2005. I don't think consistancy is possible in such a short time. Well not the way you are looking at it. Consistancy comes with experience, experience comes with time. I feel cosistency comes in stages. when you start out you are happy to consistantly hit the boss. As time goes on, you are happy to consistantly keep the arrows in the red....see what I'm getting at? Progress can be measured in lots of ways. Have a think about what you are consistantly doing now compared to 2005, not just scores. |

| I think consistancy (to some level) is possible in a short time depending on your aptitude and how much quality practice you put in. I had a telephone coaching session this evening as I haven't seen my coach for a bit - the top and bottom of the conversation was my need to practice. I have high expectations that are reasonable BUT only if I put the time in! Your mental state has a real effect even though you may not realise things are on your mind!! Stick with it and keep plugging away ![]()

As you shoot more, you'll find your draw length increases and this changes everything. As a result, it's impossible to find consistency until your technique stabilizes. The key, in the early months, is just to shoot as much as possible so that your body (and brain) begin to reconise and develop repeatable form. Consistency will follow. Adam |
