peep sight fitting Hi, I've fitted peep sights in the past but was wondering if anyone has come up with any good ways to align the peep apart from the ones with tubes(which I don't like) Getting the peep into the string is not the problem, it's the bit where you have to adjust the alignment because it isn't coming round properly. I used to lift strands over from one side to the other. It works, but quite often it leaves a strand or two looking out of place as if they are crossing from the wrong side. Thanks Geoff

Hi Greydog, Thanks for the input on that. You won't believe this but I'd forgotten that method. I have a bow press so it's no problem. A timely reminder that senility is just around the corner. Thanks folks

| Thanks Greydog! it is always the obvious solution that no-one ever picks up! I have also got fed up with adjusting a conventional peep by moving strands as new cables stretch. I ended up with a self aligning peep as the easy way out. Mind you, I actually bought a basic apple bowpress recently for just that purpose, but have been terrified of using it in case I hear the dreaded "Boing" noise as all the strings fly off in a pile of twisted cable. One day I might be brave enough to increase the presure and actually remove the string - I'm just going into the garage dear, I may be some time - please phone the archery shop and tell them I will be over later!

Yeah, I see alot of people who look at using a bowpress as similar to feeding a caged grizzly There are so many horror stories that have been taken out of context that it's easy to be put off, but I'm sure you'll have no hassles with it, after all, you only have to wind down just hard enough to take the strain off the strings and cables, and no more. Most problems seem to be caused by not having the rollers close enough to the cams, or not putting the straps as close to the limb pockets as possible on the basic model. I can't attach images I'm afraid geoffretired, but here's Apple's webpage with their bowpress range.... http://www.applearchery.com/bowpresses.htm If in doubt a motorbike helmet should see you safe ![]()

Thanks for the link Greydog. They look professional to me. Mine is a little lever that pulls two toggles that fit in the limb cut outs. Very poor alternative but I manage with it. It is scarey especially when you shorten the string during the work. It is then very tricky getting the string back on the cams. The first time is always the worst. With the Apple models it looks like a very safe procedure.

Do you have the Bowmaster, geoff ? Two pegs on a length of bicycle brake cable That's the one I have and do alot of my tuning with. I've found it to be very reliable, except the one time I didn't set it up properly and it slipped on me, that was a brown trouser moment ![]() ![]() .........suffice to say I'm alot more carefull with it now.
