| OK, I've ben away for some time, & I'm playing "Catch-ups" But having gone through this thread (Allbeit rather quickly), How do you set up a centre shot? One method I have found, is to put an Allen key into each of the limb adjuster bolts (Make sure it fits) & stretch an elastic band from one key to the next, put your arrow onto the string & adjust by looking at the spaces either side of the arrow. It works, takes longer than a laser, but it's cheaper ![]()

| For most compounds, one string width outside the centre of the limbs is pretty close. If you use the elastic band method, you could try crossing them like a figure 8. Where they cross is the limb centre. One string width outside that is close. |

Paper tuning at a short distance is also a good starting point. However ensure that you don't torque the bow or else you are bound to get a left or right tear (the chief aardvark himself proved this to me a couple of years ago - I couldn't get a bullet hole, but he could - he then demonstrated that moving the end of the longrod about an inch to the left or right at full draw he could make the same hole as me. A very good way of stopping me torqueing - thanks Lez) I agree 100% with those who say bare shaft tuning is pointless with a compound.

| Hmm, Perhaps I jumped in with both feet there. The elastic band works with the recurve, I must admit I have not tried it with the compound. My compound came from a shop, & was set up with the laser. Sorry if I have given anyone the wrong idea ![]()

| Not entirely the wrong idea the limb bolt method works just fine for Oneidas because of the cams on riser design. |
