Spiral Cam Vs Cam&1/2

Any one out there know how much faster the Hoyt Spiral cam is over the Cam & 1/2? I have considered an upgrade If there is a considerable speed gain. And how much faster is the Hoyt XT2000 limb over the XT3000 limb?

I understand the pros and cons of each type of configuration, speed variation is all I'm interested in..

Cheers
Rich

If it gives me chance to shoot a heavier arrow, I want some. I wonder is speed, light& Thin, as good as slower, Thinner & heavy?

PS Geoff, I'm back on form, I will PM you soon.

I tried this very thing during the last week!

If the peak weight is the same, then the spirals have a 7 fps advantage with a 45lbs draw weight.

The downside is that if you use the same limbs you will loose draw weight. My bow is an Ultratec with XT2000 limbs and a peak weight of 50lbs with cam & 1/2.

The upside is that the wall is much, much more solid and the bow was steadier in the hand. She also felt and sounded much nicer and faster, a nicer all round bow to shoot.

I also have a set of heavier limbs on the way, good times are nearly here...

Alex.

Interesting stuff Alex. So in your opinon will I gain anything in speed if I only get the cams replaced. I have 50-60lb limbs as it is. From what you say, I'm not going to gain much from a speed point of view??

Rgsphoto, you might find that the spirals need a stiffer limb, and being a more aggressive cam are less comfortable to shoot at the same poundage as your cam v5's, so in the end you may end up with the same arrow speed, just at a lower poundage..........if that makes sense

A speed freak, eh I think it's either the Mathews Black Max2 (330fps) or the Bowtech Allegience ( 327 - 335fps) ......I can see which one's going to get the most votes
