| Release aid advice please My situation is this;I can activate the release so the shot is a surprise. I can aim while I release so I am content in that respect. My confusion revolves around the activation process. The trigger is set to stiff and minimal travel. I can add pressure patiently to activate it or I can relax the unused fingers which tranfers the pressure to the trigger finger(middle one) and it goes as a surprise. Is one method better than the other? Is a thumb better than the middle finger for activating the trigger? Adding to my confusion is the Loesch release which is activated by just pulling once the references have been reached and the safety turned off. That seems to be a simpler method, one action maintains the pressure and activates the release. I am inclined to choose the Loesch, but that is based only on theory at present. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for listening. Geoff |

| If you can try one of these. http://www.altservices.biz/cgi-bin/h...96449011005774 You apply thumb pressure to prime at any time, then just relax the thumb and the shoots gone. Changed to one of these at the end of last season and there is no way I am going back to finger release.

| The Loesch release works well, a few at my club have it and it's great. Couldn't get that link to work but I assume you are talking the cascade. Terrible release that causes more target panic than any other I have seen. (sorry)

As to which digit to trigger with; I've avoided forefinger triggers, I don't like the idea of triggering with one of the 'pulling' fingers. I started off with a pinkie trigger, but now use a thumb trigger and I think that probably works better. Hard to tell though, as the pinkie release wasn't as good as the thumb release, overall. |

| I use a Just Cuz. Set with very little movement and a light spring and I have a tendency to shoot lovely groups in the green when I twitch.. (normally found just to the 1 o'clock about 15 yards beyond the boss)..Cascade suits me when I'm having bow panic (it's not target panic - I'm not scared of the target, I'm scared of the ruddy bow!) but I'm working on the Just Cuz to overcome my panic issues.. Have also tried a finger trigger - can punch that one as well I really should shoot recurve, shouldn't I? xx

| Thanks again for the help. I've just been trying the Ember and Chocolate Lite at Quicks. Beautiful mechanisms but don't really better the Copperjohn in some ways. Rik, the stiff is for the TP thing. The Carters were set on soft when I tried them and they go off so easily;I could feel all the TP welling up again. For me, there has to be a decent resistance so I know I have started the squeeze while I can be confident it will not go off till more pressure is applied. I remember you saying you have not had TP, so perhaps it is different for you.I have deliberately made things as different as possible from what I used before in order to "start again" if that makes sense. Too stiff can be counterproductive, I feel. Thanks again, it's very helpful to hear what you think and why. Geoff |
