The only thing that has changed is that I think the new UltraElite is ugly comparred to the original.
The cams have not changed and still have the same timing concerns.
With that said if you know what you are doing there is minimal issues.

Right now if you have unlimited money to spend I would rate these bows as worth a look

thanks Marcus...
will let you know how I get on
I agree the elite's look like they've been hit with an ugly stick...but the BT's no oil painting either...now where did you put that Apex?

I love the original Elites. Nice lines. I love my current BT as well. Not many Realtree Hardwoods Green floating around.

The BT's do look better in camo...but the target colours are like something out of the Benetton ad from hell...

on the subject of cam1/2's...are we talking about an annual service to keep the timing true or do you need to be sensitised enough to pick it up on your own?

apart from looks the Elites seem like something to consider also as one could go from the adjustability of the standad cams as a beginner to the spirals later and end up with a decent and decently quick bow?

Don't have money to throw but would like to start with the bow I'll end up with if poss...

Damn, that Apex looks good though....

The black is OK.

You know, sounds to me like you want an Apex. Go get one. Get your draw length measured so that you are not leaning back, have a straight bow arm, and have the release hand on the side of your face and you should be within some string twists of the right draw length.
I often get customers in looking at gear and you can tell they have their heart set on something. It may not be the 100% best choice practicality wise, but it's what they want. That's the bow to buy IMHO otherwise you won't ever be happy.

The Hoyts need to be kept an eye on constantly, however if they do go out of time you may not notice anyway.

So in summary, go get yourself a Mathews Apex 7 and enjoy it!

I'm sure you're right...it's shameful to be so shallow but ...

Will keep appt with OG to see if sense prevails but seems unlikely...Apex looks like it was designed and built by Germans which I think is an entirely good thing when a product involves moving parts and high stress loads.

Are draw lengths bow specific? i.e. does it change due to different grip positions etc from bow to bow?

It's just that I'd be inclined to give the business to my local shop who don't carry but I believe can obtain Mathews...

So if the measured drawlength is say 29" on a BT , does that translate directly?

Yeah it tends to. I buy 28" bows and they always come out right regardless of bow brand, but then I form is stable.
I don't think it's shallow at all, you have to enjoy your sport, and that includes on all levels. I feel sorry for people who have no pride in their gear.

That's helpful thanks...will buy release aid first and get measured with the one I'll use...seems to be a shortage of Loesch BT's over here at the moment which is a bit of a pain...

Wil send pics when I'm sorted

Thanks again...forum's great...would've taken month's if not years to get info/insights any other way...thanks to all who responded...hope to reciprocate sometime

now...how exactly do you shoot these things?

Point em at the middle and squeeze the release trigger. They'll then go where you aim them.

The real questions are "How do you hold em steady?" and "How do you squeeze the release aid correctly?". Get those 2 right and 1400 is on the way.

Good luck!
