| Hoyt yoked buss cable Hi Folks. On my Hoyt UltraTec bow the bus (yoked) cable is Hoyt's "floating yoke" system (the cable is made of two strings looped through each other). Some people I've talked to (who shoot Hoyt bows) say this design is not as good as the "fixed yoke" systems (where the bus cable is a single y shaped string) because it doesn't allow you to adjust cam lean. Other people say the floating yoke is better because it allows the bow to adjust during the draw cycle... So, which system do you Hoyt shooters use, and why? ![]() Any one know what system the "top archers" shoot? (not that I'm anywhere near them yet... )Of course, they may be no difference between them at all, so it would be good to know. Cheers, Chris. |

| Thanks Fox. I'm not worried, I'm just curious ![]() As far as the material goes, I got fed up with D75 creeping and tried 452X for a while on my old bow (2004 Ultratec) which I was quite pleased with. I'm about to try 8125 on the 2006 Ultratec (again, out of curiosity) to see what thats like. Chris. |

| I agree with Fox. Stick with the floating yoke. 452X is excellent. Ultracam also worth a try. Adam

| I shot with the floating yoke for quite some time, then during a FITA had it give out on me. I made the next cable with a fixed yoke and never looked back. I found that it gave me more control over the cam lean which allowed me to get it exactly perfect. The floating yoke was never as perfect. D75 is horrible string material on a compound bow. 452X is the stuff. It will eat through the floating yoke though so you will have to leave the yoke as D75 if you prefer that system.

| Marcus - Having tried both systems, did you find that getting the cam lean perfect made any significant difference to how the bow shot? Or was it one of those "it must be better" things? Thanks for all the opinions folks. Chris. |

| yeah I found that getting it wrong on a Hoyt meant I got left-right tears through paper. Get it spot on and that went away.

| Marcus and I seem to have had the same experience with most things, but not here. I've tried both yoke systems and found no difference either on dodgy tuning tests or in real shooting. But then the cams on my UltraElite don't lean anyway. If they did, I could see the advantage of a fixed yoke. As for 452(X) chewing through floating yokes, I've used 452 and 452X more or less since they first came out and have had no problems at all with chewed up floating yokes at my 54lb peak weight. |
