| Help please with compound setup. Guys, i'm relativly new to compound, converted at beginning of summer, i'm shooting a ultratec and the string dampers seem to have caused some premature wear to the yoke cable, plus draw stop timing also now out of tune. I have access to a bow press, but its owner has never worked on a hoyt, only his shoot through system bow. My question is, How do i set it up and get it all timed correctly from scratch. I know someone will suggest take it to a shop, but a visit to my nearest archery shop will take a day out, and speaking to them on the phone i was not inspired with confidence that they could do any better than me. So i think if i learn myself then i will not be relying on others every time i need to make an adjustment. thanks in advance for any suggestions. |

| Thanks for suggestion, but our club is very light on compound shooters, as i said, i can get access to bow press but its owner has no experience with my bow. From what i understand it is only a matter of tweeking the cables and string to acheive the desired specs that hoyt list on their website for my bow, it would just be nice to have the views of anyone with some experience as a starting point. thanks. |

| Try looking at the tuning section of Archery Talk, the US site. Javi has an excellent tuning guide for cam 1/2 bows as a sticky at the top of the section. |

| thanks, i found this post by javi earlier tonight while searching for info on setting up the bow. The thing i find strange is that given there must be 1000's of these bows out there, how come there is only 1 post anywhere on the web detailing how to set one up? does everyone else have a bow that never needs working on? Does following this method actually work? Is it the correct way to do it? (by this i mean what would the hoyt factory do to set up a new one). and is it relativly simple to acheive a correctly set up bow if followed correctly? i spoke to 2 shops during the week to see if i could gain some info on how to set up this bow, i was told by one of them to just fiddle with the cables until the draw stops were right and not to worry at all about the sync of the cams as sync was not really too important if the stops were ok. This is partly what inspired me to try it myself. |

| Javi's method really does work, I have used it on a number of Hoyts. I think that there is only the one post on the net because it is so accessable and definitive!! Alex.

| Dave the dog, the split limbs will require a bow press that has the adaptors to handle them. Is there a link to the Javi method please. I would be interested in reading that. If the draw stop timing is out of tune, is there a chance that one cam is on a different draw length setting from the other? Just a thought. |

| Javi's isn't the only one, but it's not a complex cam system, so the processes remain the same. Here is another one http://urbanarchery.com.au/articles_...p?article_id=6

| thanks, the second article does not refer to cam sync only draw stop timing, if sync were not important then why would hoyt put timing marks on the cams, also does not advise how one would go about starting from scratch with new cables. I was just really interested if anyone had any other method they used, and also wondering what method hoyt would adopt in the factory when putting them together. Geoff the javi method can be found at http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=207391. Regards |
