What is it that makes compounds acurate

I think that the one thing that sets the compound bow apart from the other bows for general accuracy for all archers not just those who can shoot anything well is the peep sight yes the cams and other bits help but that is to do with the arrow flight I am talking about hitting what you aim at or think you are aiming at

My reason is that this gives a line between your eye and the sight and hence you should be able to get the eye - sight - target picture more accurately.

WHAT DO YOU THINK and why

How much improvement would a recurve archer get if they fitted a back sight of some sort even just some serving.

Unlimited or limited?????????

Ok so am assuming you mean Unlimited Compound as opposed to Limited Compound. Not many people have compared peep and non peep shooting on the same bow, with the same anchor point,Moose. I have. I set up a peep site on one of my Oneids' for an under the chin anchor, at 20 yds for the door season. When I shifted to 30 meters the sight pin dropped out of the bottom of the peep. This proves that the anchor was solid vertically. Add to that a good string picture using a recurve technique and the peep sight is not that much of an advantage.
The release aid how ever is a huge advantage, a mechanically consistant loose that it is so clean that it all but does away with the paradox of the arrow must be the greatest advantage of the UNLIMITED compound.

The release aid would be the bigger impact. The peep is quite easy to work around by using the same stability techniques you use with recurve, but learning to release is much much more difficult.

Agreed. The mechanical release - used correctly - has the biggest effect.

Simple - the let-off and the mechanical release.

The let-off means you are not straining and the release means the arrow is released in something much closer to a straight line.

Judging by the World Cup finals yesterday I have to agree.

We all know that 99% of problems occur behind the nocking point so shall we assume that the person shooting the compound can also shoot a recurve?
