Dry Fired Bowtech Tribute

Right at the risk of declaring to the archery world I am a first class numpty, On Sat of this week I was at my club, on my own, brain in neutral, and I dry fired my new tribute, by accident of course, cos not even a total numpty would dry fire his bow on purpose.
First clue I didnt have an arrow on board was one hell of a nasty sound, second clue was that the pick a peep had come free from the string and had broken the pick a peep anchor point on the cable.

Now the reason for posting this is the bad rep Bow Tech's have with regards to dry firing ok

When I examined my beloved bow I found that the cams are perfect, the cables/strings etc are still in first class condition, and still in place, the limbs are perfect, and their doesn't appear to be any damage apart from what I have already told you about, obviously I have to get it checked out, to make sure I aint missed anything, and to have a new pick a peep sight fitted.

When I first got the Tribute I contacted Bowtech's technical dept, and questioned them about the rumours circulating with regards to the damage caused by dry firing, they responded by stating that the earlier 2006 tributes did indeed have problems with regards to cam problems and dry firing, but that the later tribute had been modified, which would seem to be true following my accident.

I know there are loads of truth.rumours/lies circulating with regards to bowtech reliabilty, and no doubts I MAY have been lucky, as some of you will point out, but that is this numpty's story, the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth, and no I aint on any kick back from bowtech or anyone that sells em

Thank the Lord nothing did go wrong, 'cos if it had and you were as you say, "shooting alone" you might not have been able to write the story!! Always shoot with another archer for health and safety's sake and also you are not covered under GNAS insurance on your own! I know of 2 other cases of dry loosed Bowtechs and they were terminal! You are a lucky lad, but PLEASE get it checked out

I think theres a lot of red-neck propoganda out there about the bows partic' following the Bowtech spat with Elite.

Glad to hear everytging is ok.

I thought the GNAS rules of shooting permitted solo shooting, subject to caveats (fingers crossed etc). Have things changed now?

103. Numbers Present
(a) On the grounds where the public have a right of access, there must be a minimum of
two people present each being a minimum of 18 years of age when any shooting is in
progress, one of whom may be a non-archer to act as a lookout. The archer is
responsible to inform the lookout of all safety aspects applicable. Where two adult
archers are present and shooting together they will alternate on the shooting line so that
the non-shooting archer can act as the lookout.
(b) Solo shooting by senior archers (ie archers 18 and over) is permitted on private land
which is fenced all round and where the public has no legal right of access. A warning
notice must be displayed at all entrances and points of access. Any member shooting
on their own is doing so at their own risk in respect of personal injuries.
(c) Juniors When junior archers (ie archers under 18) are shooting individually or in
groups they must be supervised by an adult member (excluding honorary members) of
the Society
