| I have a couple of questions about release aids, despite a couple of friends telling me how good the Chappy Boss with jaws is, all the catalogues seem to have are the Talon heads, now I suspect there must be a good reason for this, does anyone know that the Talon head is better technicaly.Secondly I have a Fletchmatic 3 D wrist release at the moment which is getting a bit worn,I recently tried the Stinger also the Loopmaster,I wasnt impressed with either, can anyone tell me what in their opinion is the nicest wrist release out there at the moment.I know about going to a dealer and trying them all but if I had some idea of what was good I could narrow my search down a bit as I live a good long way from any dealer. Thanks for any input oldy |

| Have you thought of the other Fletcher release? I use a Hunter release and I know several ladies on the Dutch team use them too. Only problem I've had with mine is the velcro on the strap wearing out. It does just what it says on the tin http://www.fletcherarchery.com/prd_fletchunter.html My "other half" uses a talon head chappy boss and he gets on fine with it. |

| Not a fan of either release, I think you can do alot better. Look at a Carter release either Carter Just Cuz Insatiable 3 Target 3 Ember 1 or if you have small hands the Spot Hogg Saturday Night Special 3 fingers are easier to hold steady with IMHo (get the pinky behind the release body) and you want a release that has the trigger sitting at the base of your thumb. Don't be afraid to rotate the release in your hand to do this however, that will help with the execution. You also want a release without travel.

| Marcus, what do you mean with a release "without travel"? Steve

| One that you can set so that there is no travel in the thumb mechanism as you apply pressure to make it fire. Adam

| If you can find one, a Barnet wrist release aid is a gem, i currently have 2 because they are hard to get hold of. I have used this one for 9 years and had no problems what so ever. |

| Marcus, what is the Saturday Night Special like to shoot I use a Cascade 8 and love it and can shoot it very well but the SNS looks very similar but with a different trigger and I assume push to release

| Thanks Fellas, and mk1, I would like to go down the wrist release road a bit further as I unfortunately have a bit of a hand problem and I do need to switch releases from time to time.I shoot the wrist release by hooking my index finger around the trigger then increasing my back tension which fires it ,the problem is the majority that I have tried in the past are too course & unrefined,I will look out for a hunter though. I already have a Carter Target 4 which is good but the reason I was interested in the Chappy boss was I found my friends one more comfortable in my hand .If anyone is interested my hand problem is called Dupritron Contraction I think I have spelt it right ,it's genetic & affects mostly people over 60 so dont worry about getting it through archery. Its what stopped me shooting recurve after 30 yrs but I have really enjoyed compound it's been like starting over .It took me 6 mths to get used to shooting without a clicker as I did not realize I was gold shy without one .I was missing the whole boss at 30 mtrs .I got myself a release called "the answer" which got me over it but you wouldn't want to use one at a tournament ,it was hard work. oldy |
