I am tempted to say neither. but first some information is required. What do you intend to do with the bow. If you are going to shoot it what type of shooting are you going to do? Compound bows of that age can hold some really nasty pit falls for the unwary ( like steel plastic sheathed cables with special ends)and getting spares is going to be a nightmare if you can get them at all. The problem will be that the design of bows as moved on a long way and the bits that went into the old design have long since gone as well.
Of the two the Jennings arrow Star was the better bow but it is a four wheel design that did not last long. The Bear White tail I think is more like the model T Ford.
If you really must have an old compound the get an old Oneida Screaming Eagle. Why? because the basic design of Oneidas has not changed in nearly thirty years. They got it right first time, that means that spares are still available for a 1980's bow
Next the cost. Importing from the States means that you will have to pay 17.5% vat on the cost of the item and the cost of the carriage and may be a clearance fee as well so it might not be as cheap as you think.
As for the bits and bobs you will need a sight, the type of arrow rest will depend on how on the bow. There might not be enough room for an arrow launcher and as for a release aid that will be optional as most of the very early bows were shot off fingers. If you go this route as well then you will need a Hoyt Supa rest and a tab along with arrows of the correct spine (stiffness)

Thank you very much for that information. You save me from spending almost on a worthless bow. i'm not really looking for an old bow, i'm just looking for a cheaper one that can be still of use now. can you find a second hand one for me on ebay? price range is $200 below. i'm a dummy when it comes to Archery, my hobby really is racing 1/8 RC Buggies. i have no idea what to choose when it comes to bows but my i have two buys who like to try this hobby. I'm hopeful of your reply. THe bow is for target practice shooting only with varying range. Thx Jerry Tee, there are several people who viewed my post but only you who has the heart to help. Again thank you very much. Keep good.

I CAn't find any Oneida Screaming Eagle on ebay, maybe they are way too expensive and a bow good for keeps

OK the RC cars is a good thing it tells me that you have mechanical ability That means that you could do work on the bow yourself. Next where are you? You did not fill in the the Bio, I notice that you think in Dollars if you are in the States then the range of older compounds is much bigger. As for me and older compounds I wanted a cheap compound because I was getting back into archery after a long lay off buget was tight and I wanted some thing that would throw an arrow 100yds that I would be able to pull. (I'm getting older now) so older compounds are some thing that interests me.
I got lucky I bought an old Oneida off Ebay and it could have been a bust but I found the Oneida forum on their web site and was helped by the guys there.I noticed that a lot of the guys on that forum still shot older bows so they last well. Have a look on Ebay.com, do a search on Oneida in the sporting goods section. You should find some thing, Look at www.oneidaeaglebows.com and get on the forum there and ask questions to find out more.If you can get a reasonable bow.Find an archery club if you can and go along and see what is out there and get some help.
If you are on a buget then I would say shoot off fingers first for a while it will be cheaper and it will teach you more about archery but it won't be as easy as using a release. have a look at www.archerytalk.com as well. more to follow later

Do a seach on oneida there are different models, Oneida Eagles, Strike Eagles, Tomcats The newer bows will be out of your price range at the moment. I have just had a look and there is a real nice Oneida Lite Force Magnum on Ebay at the moment item number 150049986109. the bidding is at $178 at the moment. This is one of the all time greats of the Oneidas range smooth and fast and a quality bow. It all depends on what it gets up to, but there is only one day and 15 hours left. So it might stay within your limit. There is also a peep sight and arrow rest on it so you just need a D loop, arrows, a sight and release aid to shoot it .Make no mistake this bow is worth stretching your budget for. It's more bow than you will need as a beginner but it will save you the price of your second bow. If I could convince my wife I'd buy it.
Next there is a Strike Eagle, item number 19004511387 This will make a good finger bow according to the seller it has been overhauled.for this bow you will need an arrow rest berger button sight tab and arrows as it is a bear bow. If you are going to shoot this one off fingers you should use an under the chin anchor like the recurve target archers you see on the olypics.
You need to get your draw lenght measured at a pro shop before you buy. the Lite Force Magnum is a medium which I think is 29 to 30 inches draw lenght the Strike Eagle Eagle is a short which is 28 to 29 inches.for this bow get your draw lenght measured recurve style.

Zaintlouis, you might get more response if you first posted in the 'Say Hello, it's Only Polite' thread. That is where you can introduce yourself and tell us something about yourself, where in the world you live, and your experience of archery etc. At that stage, people can start to help you.

Buying a bow is a very personal thing - what suits one person may be completely wrong for another. It's hardly surprising that people are reluctant to offer advice that may, in your particular circumstances, turn out to be wrong.
