| My eldest offspring is 12 & female. She shoots longbow (& occasionally recurve), but has almost no aiming phase. That said she shoots OK, although we mostly shoot field together. (Can't supervise & compete in target at the same time) We had a go at field archery with compound bows (limited) while on holiday & she was much more settled at aim. This may be a transient thing, but with middle sized one giving her at least a run for her money in the longbow stakes I'm tempted to go for a cheap compound bow & change the way that the 2 of them compete against each other. Given that this would be a trial I'm not keen to buy an expensive bow (& I'm not really tempted by the dark side right now). We're talking about a 12 yr old with a draw of 26" (ish - it keeps getting bigger for some reason), who currently draws a longbow at 18-20lb. This seems to put us in the small adult category. I found this on ebay, which seems to be adjustable to the 30ish lb that I'd want her to start with. However, I've no real experience with compounds so I'm up for suggestions / comments / reviews.

| Not that bow. the draw lenght range is 3 inches but it does not say if it is 27 to 30 0r 27 to 24. the peak draw is 60lbs even with a 20lb weight range it would still come to 40lbs peak draw weight. Ill have a look around and se if I can find some thing. |

| Check out a Browning Micro Midas. 18-28" draw length range and a decent price as well. Also look at the Alpine Micro and the new Diamond Cutter. Same adjustments.

| If she is shooting limited then it will be off fingers. Sorry you just missed an Oneida Talon for $200 |

| I'm told Matthews do a good starter bow called the 'Genisis' I believe, very adjustable

| I was going to say the Matthews Genesis too. Cheap, not draw-length specific, no let-off. Adam

| Or the Genesis Pro, on which you can set a stop point on the draw, and get a solid wall. There is also the Hoyt Rintec, which I know has a big draw length adjustment, but I'm not sure if it would go long enough - especially if she's already at 26". Graham. |

| We have the Micro Midas and Micro Adrenaline for two of our children, both very good value and easy to adjust. Draw length is adjusted by moving two allen screws and the weight is also easily adjusted. We got them from the USA for between £85 and £129 each. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Wow! Firstly, I'm glad I asked, since I was clearly barking up a wrong tree. Secondly, thanks for the suggestions ![]()
