Thanks for all of that Bruno.
I suppose the s bend in the bar will have some dampening effect but was put in to line up the stopper with the string.
Have you tried the stopper in different positions, like further forward ?
I have a shock absorber from a R/C car; I wonder if that would be worth fitting into the system?????
Well done again!

Geoff,your making me blush!
I have not had a chance to try the stopper at different positions,But I will when I get a chance.I have positioned it just touching the string as this is where the systems on sale in the states have them.
The bend in the bar is inevitable in this MK1 version but if I can get some large diameter ally bar stock and the use of my friends lathe,I have an idea for a much more elegant MK11 with a straight rod but it will mean a hell of a lot of work!

It looks even better. There's something about highly polished ally that is difficult to explain but the shine seems to go deep into the metal rather than stand on the outer surface. Nice one.

I was looking at my bow last night with thee idea of trying on of these, my string looks to sit directly in line with the rear rod thread, I already have my side bar screwed in at the rear of the riser,

this means if I get the right length short bar and a rubber it may screw straight in without any brackets or adapters, though im not 100% about clearence to the power/timing strings, what is it you are using for the stopper?

Bruno, I look forward to reading your results.
In the mean time, is it worth sticking a lump of limb saver rubber onto my bracer?? Catching the old sleeeve makes the bow very quiet.
( sorry about that; I am still serious about reading your results and making my own, proper string stopper)

I have been thinking about this with my engineering head on and have an observation please bear with me while I try and describe it.

If you did not have the STS in place and you have even knock travel throughout the length of travel the string passes several inches past the bracing before the arrow releases and this is what the STS is trying to prevent which it does very well. If you have the STS fitted the string hits the Stop at the bottom but it does not stop the string dead the string will continue moving forwards, admittedly a lot less that without the STS, it will move more above the STS than below, now rather that having knock point > cam top and button, you have knock point > cam at top knock point > STS > cam.

Now what I can not work out is Does this cause the Knock point to move, there are so many dynamic considerations it has actually given me a headache trying to think about it , My Gut feeling is it would move how much will depend on how close the STS is to the knocking point, I do not think it would be a lot but I think it will move down a little prior to arrow release, what do you think?

Yes,I am sure the affect you discribe does happen, but without an expensive high-speed camera the amount will remain unknown.
The firm STS (I call what I have made a string stopper so as not to confuse)
make a double unit with one rubber below and one above the nock point.
I think this is mainly a noise thing for the American hunters rather that anything to do with nock travel. All I can say I have used my version with my limited abilities and only found my sight marks have moved slightly.
The double robin hood shows the arrows do seem to be going in the right direction!
I cannot continue with the Merlin versions as I have found that the cables foul the rubber damper when drawing. This is the price you pay for not using the correct components. When I can get either the Hoyt (sims) rubber or some STS EDS stoppers which are smaller diameter I will continue.
To see the STS system (not yet updated with the EDS MK11) go to;
www.stsarchery.com
I use a Sims stabiliser enhancer at the moment.
