Home made 'sts'

I mentioned on an earlier thread that I was going to make my own string stopper. One reason was to stop the 'twang' I hear on my Trykon which I have put down to the string not being so tight at brace, having parallel limbs.
Having all the arrows coming off the string at the same point was also something I was hoping for.
I shot the bow for the first time with it fitted on an indoor the other night and it made the shot totally quiet so I was very pleased.
Halfway through the round my second arrow of the end tried to robin hood the first but just managed to snap the nock off with a loud bang and traveled halfway back up the range.
Shot the next one and done it again! at that point I thought this is getting expensive so gave up on that round.
So it looks like I have silenced the bow and have at least not made it less accurate!
It also looks better than an STS.When I can get an 07 Hoyt stealthshox rubber it will look even better.

String stopper photos

Here are (hopefully) a couple of pics of my string stopper.I say hopefully as this is the first time I have attached photos onto a forum.
The stopper rod has been left a little longer than needed to allow for the new Hoyt rubber to be installed when I can get one.
I may also polish the stopper rod.
The other Trykon archers in my club have said that they can hear the difference too,so it's not just my imagination.

STS Works

Nice custom job, It will look cool polished with the hoyt rubber, but the sims is a good idea

Just bought a second STS for my new bow when I buy it, but the existing one on the Outback works wonders and hence the second one

Bruno, I think that looks great. Some of my PM to you will be irrelevant now, having seen it. It looks as if the positioning is close to the string at bracing height. With the string normally travelling well ahead of that, it must get quite a heavy contact. Is it just the rubber that absorbs the shock, or is there some spring built into it? Does it adjust backwards and forwards or is there no need?
Very interesting! I have some materials to build one;just need the rubber end????
Sorry about all the questions but it looks too interesting to leave without finding out more.

Yes,the bar is adjustable, and locked in place by two M5 s/s grub screws.
The stopper just touches the string at brace.
The stopper is a Sims stabiliser enhancer so is not just ordinary rubber but navcom material which really does absorb shock.
Hoyt are claiming their system reduces string oscilation by 70%.
On non parallel limb bows this type of device stops some of the forward 'kick' felt in the hand on release.
At the moment in the states STS are at a show where they are dry-firing bows on their trade stand to show how a bow will survive this misuse with a STS fitted.
Apparently they have dry-fired a PSE over ninety times!!
