| yes, brittle and requires constant maintanance. Plus over no advantage over standard vanes.

| They work OK with a drop away rest. And I have used the with a button and flipper as well although they are a little more fragile they are easy to replace. |

| Now are we talking Alternative's kurlies or Spinwings? I use the Alternative variety and love em. I feel they give the best flexability and straighten my shafts in flight quicker than any of type of spin wing. And they look wicked in Dayglow Pink! However as Marcus said they do require much more maintanence. However I get the best results from curled vanes and would not consider converting back to straight vanes. However I am recurve and I have seen a tendancy on Compounds to revert back to straight vanes. I asume with the higher speeds the advantage of curled vanes is lost.

| I am using Spin Wings and while I am happy with them they are fragile, I was changing fletchings regularly (you will quickly find if you have any clearance issues). Changing fletchings is no big deal as they are held on with sticky tape. Come summer once I run out of spare wings I will probably convert to X-Vanes they are supposed to be a lot more durable.

| Thanks for the advice, Think I'll leave it for a while, at least for the indoor season. Interesting point Schme1440 said about the spinwings though, these are the ones that are straight but have a weight at the tail to make them spin? Do they give the same clearence problems with compound? |

The straight vanes with weight at the weighted tail are Quickspins. Very different product. I personally don't use either, the Kurly Vanes and Spin Vanes both damage very quickly and I had bad results with Quickspins in windy conditions. I am considering trying the X vanes before outdoor competitions next year to see how they go. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| have been useing 70mm red (max drag) spinwings indoor for awhile now and found them very good though quite fragile, recently got some 70mm gold kurly vanes from alt just to try out cause they looked so nice. fletched four and shot them with my spin wings. No real differance, well none that i could see, scores remain same on average. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
