Pyroarch57, I get that now, thanks.
Equal lift top and bottom is half the problem solved. I was trying to turn the lift through 90 degress so it would cancel the side to side effect of the wind. Perhaps one tilted at 45 upwards and the other pointed 45 downwards would produce a horizontal force into the wind???
Perhaps I need an aircraft designer here?
I like your idea of a short rod with a relatively heavy weight. MMMMmm?

Fuse Stabs

Anyone tried the fuse stabiliser, if so are they any good especially in the wind as they appear to be very fat even though they are short

Geoff

You need the TASA Elliptical stabs that I got from the Ukraine. They seem reasonable in a side wind compared to normal round stabs. See their website:

For my compound I still wouldn't go past my Doiniker 28" (?) Carbon Elite A Bomb. Eliminates all shock and vibration and is quite light.

I have tried the fuse indoors on a Portsmouth.I was able to hold well on the gold, but it was a bit wobbly.
OK stabiliser (32.5") is as easy to hold on the gold but much more stable.
I used the OK today at sixty yards, worked very well.
Another club member who has the same problem as me (bow sits under the gold) tried it and is now going to buy one.

Do you think the longer Fuses would be more stable (10" etc)

I have just bought a 35" Ok stab, but I need a quick release because it does not screw completly in to the riser because of its shape, the quick disconnect will step it off just enough to tighten it up

Do the inserts actually move once they are clipped in tight as they do not move easily by hand

I don't think the longer fuse will be much more stable, still not long enough.Good for hunting I suppose.the OK has the length to do it.
According to the blurb I have read, the inserts move on their own to their 'optimium' position.I would have thought that the inserts should be at the point where there is most vibration not least.if they do move on their own this would not be the case.(the inserts on our stab.seem to have stayed put)
That aside, they do seem to work for two of us who have tried them.
Bows were Trykon XL and Merlin Max 2000.

Suggest you have a look at the Merlin-bows web site, have good articles on stabalisers. I use one of their new single long rods with adjustable weight and find it very good, its not too heavy and does seem to make a moire stable shooting platform.

After taking all the advice, looking at the many many different threads on here and other forum on this topic ( sorry to start a new one )....

I went and got a Carbon Elite Doinker 31", unibar and Abomb to offset the sight weight.... still got the Beiter and Vbar setup for indoors ( although I'm not going to use the Vbar indoors so may appear up for sale here )...

thanks for all the help...
