| I just had one of these for xmas and they work fine on a recurve. some things to bear in mind though: 1) are your ceilings high enough to shoot a recurve indoors (I have to practice in the hallway so I get full stairs height!) 2) when you release the front of the bow really jumps forward with some force as not only is the device itself heavy, but the inner mechanism is slowing down the psuedo arrow which has the effect of really pulling the bow forward. I find my wrist sling starts to hurt my wrist because it is being pulled forward with so much force. I am currently trying to find a more comfortable sling. hth Alan | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| If the bow is going to jump out of my hand with each shot does this mean you change your grip. Do you start grabbing the bow as you release. |

I wouldn't modify my grip, the main advantage of this training aid is to practice a consistent form, loose and followthough. So changing the grip just for practice would not be good. In my case it just means I keep my technique the same but my wrist starts to hurt after a while because the sling really jerks it with some force. One more thing that has started to annoy me is that the mechanism is permanently clamped to the string with two screws. This means you have to either unscrew it after each practice to take down your bow or leave the bow assembled (assuming you are using it on a spare trainer bow as I am!). I tried leaving it assembled, but my brace height dropped from 8 inches to 5.5 inches as the dacron string on the bow stretched. so I now have to remove it after each time I practice, which is a pain. This isn't a problem with compounds naturally. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| DMU AC. I got mine from bowsports and its the only one they sell. So it should be the same. Note my last response to Ian. The string attachement I find a real nuisance, shame it couldn't have been a simple clip. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| Thanks Hope to use on on an old Browning compound I failed to sell on ebay so will have it permanently attached. Use a finger sling and have a fairly loose grip so will see how it goes. might add a wrist sling as a precaution against launching the bow across the garage. Work and family commitments mean my usual Thursday nights shooting are going to be cut back for the next couple of months so going to have to practice at home. (bit of a bugger as I have just bought a new bow) |
