Ok, i`ve found the answer. The first piece i used, off my one metre length was put on my U`tec, and that has been shot many times and still going strong.
The second piece i put on my indoor practice bow with reduced poundage (which hasn`t been shot a lot) that piece broke a few days ago.
Since then, i`ve been tuning this bow and brought it up to the same poundage as my other bow, fitted a new piece to that and on the first draw that broke too (as per posts)
With the spare piece i have left i started unpicking the braid which exposed an inner core, i did the same on the broken piece and what do you know NO INNER CORE! so the last two pieces cut off must have came from the opposite end to the first piece. Bad news, I can`t even get a refund because that `dimwit` at Altservices wouldnt let me explain my problem.

On the positive side, you have learnt something that will be useful. The breakage happened in a situation where no serious harm was done;but it could have been worse.
Perhaps someone needs to make a new answer phone message, along the lines of;
"Sorry we can't come to the phone right now. We'd only be rude to you anyway, so put your*****phone down!"

Hi all,

Picking up on this point, I beg to differ. I used to shoot a Carter Chocolate Addiction, and used to get through D loops fairly quickly - My better half then snaffled the release from me and started shooting it - she got through D loops even quicker than I did (approx a week to 10 days on average). Talking with another coach, I mentioned the problem, and he's a guy with an engineering background. He knew of the problem, which only seemed to be with Chocolate Addictions, and he'd already cured it on a couple of releases.

He took my release, dismantled it and deburred a sharp edge on the hook, then put it all back together again.

Result is the same D loop was now on the Wife's bow with no sign of wear for over a year. He used I believe a diamond file as I'd tried emery board with no success. I think this was an isolated problem with early versions, as mine was one of the first in the country. I shill shoot Carter releases (and Evolution and a Just B Cuz) and get no problems with them.

It's just another thing to eliminate, although it looks like you've solved your individual problem.

Cheers, and Happy New year to you all,

Graham.
