Moving over to the darkside

I have been thinking of moving to the darkside this season. Don’t fancy spending a lot of cash in case I don’t like it.
I have seen a Hoyt Cybertec for sale. Should I consider this bow?
I know nothing about compound shooting so advice greatly received.

A cybertec would be a good start but is a bit old. Personally I would never recommend some one swapping disaplines but if thats what you want to do then its your choice.

Agreed, totaly. Why are you thinking of it? Is it a positive - "I want to try that", which is good - or is it a negative - "I don't seem to be getting anywhere with my current shooting"?

Absolutely. If you are interested and fancy trying it then I suggest seeing about borrowing one or try it at your club. If its because your not happy with your current shooting style then seek help first. Running away from a certain disapline because it is not working is not a good move. You will just bring over the problems with you. If its for physical/medical reasons then by al means give it ago.

Tried a friend’s compound on Boxing Day. The power rush of the few shots I had WOW.
Just the fun of different shooting discipline. I will still try to master my recurve. Some times you want a change. I don't fancy longbow shooting (I like to hit the target
)

whats wrong with having a go of another discipline?

i say go for it. if its another part of the archeyr spectrum that you fancy havign a go at then go for it. i know plenty of people that shoot recurve and longbow and i even know one person who is starting to shoot all 3 (not dead yet and if his recurve and longbow shooting is anythign to go by he'll be a dab hand with the wheely bow too)

Go for it - I've found compound to be a good training aid for recurve, though I find recurve more satisfying.

No problem with that. Same reason I swapped over for a few years.

I have a browning with a half decent sight and 12 acc's for sale. Its set to 27" draw length and could be shortened but not made longer (its set at max) it'll wind upto about 50lb. £75 + postage or collect from aylesbury(near chiltern archery).

Might suit for a starter to get you going

If you really are interested in trying compound the Cybertec is a fairly good starter bow, if it has cam and 1/2 then draw length is easily adjustable, not sure about the other cams. This was the bow I started shooting with this year and it did me well, they are a little short axel to axel they were more of a 3D hunting bow so possibly not a forgiving as some out there, this does not make them a bad bow by any means and if you are a shorter draw a shorter A>A is not such an issue anyway, for the time they were a fairly fast Bow. For the money second hand they are good value.

I have a 2003 Cam and ½, in the For Sale section if you are interested .
