Spigarelli Release question.

The Spig and other comparatively cheap releases have their place. If you are a 'command' shooter (aka 'puncher' ) or use a very heavy BT style the Spig may suit you, but if you want even moderate sentitivity, in my experience, you won't get it - at least not reliably. What's more, even if you do manage to adjust your particular release as you want it a) it won't last, as the sear wears very quickly and b) you may not be able to adjust any other Spig to the same point, as I have found them to be very variable from release to release.

I'm not defending Altservices attitude, but it would be surprising if a £40 release did exactly the same job as a £100 release. There are good, functional reasons why the vast majority of release shooters finish up with Carter or Truball, despite the price - and have done so for many years.

Yes the Spigarelli is cheap, but my robe release has lasted 10 years without any problems. I just wanted one that could fit direct to the d loop as a spare and give me the same anchor point.

I will accept your ten years, and advance you at least another five further years with my Fletchmatic wrist release.

Cant beat 15 years but bought a fletchmatic at the same time as the spigarelli

Lets put it this way
If you gave me $1000 to buy all my archery gear again I would put down $265 on a Carter Insatiable 3/Target 3/Just Cuz as my first step and go cheap on everything else.

Release aids are worth spending the money on.

I started with a spig and it did me as a start if that is what you can afford, having changed (still have the spig for emergencies) I would definitely recommend someone to spend the extra money on a good release.

Independent of weather or not this is a cheap release, if when you buy it, it does not work then it is not fit for the purpose for which it was sold, I would demand they change it or refund the money if they refuse as far as I am aware they are breaking the law I would contact trading standards or citizens advice.

Preaching to the converted I started with a Spigarelli .. paid about £35 from Custom Built - OH MY GOD that thing was clunky and awful.

But....

I didn't realise that fact until I tried a Carter


Bought me a Carter Insatiable 3 for £105 ($200) from Custom Built - seems to be a very good prices for them. Its a fantastic release, I simply cannot praise it quite enough

Yet I think the spig could be a good release. Except for the reliability issue I think the problem is in the handle design. Improve the handle design and you would have a decent release aid. Not a Carter but at least closer.
