| Spigarelli Release question. Hi, I bought a Spigarelli release from Targetcraft in December, £33. Great item, but did not realise at the time that they did two versions; a rope release and a d-loop release. I had bought the rope release. I have just had delivered from Quicks the d-loop version (£38) but notice that the trigger feels completely different, even though the two releases are identical except for the metal shape at the front. The rope release has a factory setting of maybe 3-4mm travel before the release fires, which I find great. The d-loop release has not even 0.5mm travel, just touching the thumb causes it to fire. The adjustment screw on the release seems to go the "wrong" way, allowing it to go floppy, ie the spring inside is not pushing the trigger up any more. It does not allow me to increase the amount of travel. My concern is that as there is so little contact when you look at the two bit of metal inside the unit, (compared to the other one), that is has been assembled wrong or slightly out of spec, and that there is no provision for wear at all. has anyone else got one of these releases and could comment. I have only a six days from today left under the distance selling regulations to return the item for a refund or replacement. Quicks link is here: http://www.quicksarchery.co.uk/super...p?product=1133 Regards Ivan

| Hi Ivan Got a Spigarelli d loop release as a present at Christmas as a back up to my carter release. Have got exactly the opposite problem. There is a bit of travel to trigger the release but the jaws open a little bit and then stick. The weight of the bow is not enough to release the stuck jaw and only shoots as the poundage increases as I let down. My brother explained this to Alternative Services and was fobbed of with the response that it was a cheap release an what did he expect. (Pity for Alt. as was about to spend £300+ with them. Instead a shop is about to get my business) Will strip down the release and see if I can fix it as do like the releases as already have the rope release. Quicks are usually pretty good if you have problems so would give them a call. |

| Just checked with Quicks. Looks like the unit is faulty. If the release is in the unlocked mode, ie. the catch at the front is forwards and inactive, the trigger works fine and the brass adjustment screw alters the height perfectly. If the front metal d-loop catch is used, the metal plate of the trigger "snags" behind the catch about half a millimeter up, which is why the trigger goes floppy and no adjustment can be made. Quicks said send it back and they'll take a look and most likely replace it immediately for me. Great customer service. Recommended. Regards Ivan. Mods feel free to delete this thread as it's a bit redundant now! .

Having got two of them, I was easily able to identify one as having a fault, which as a beginner, I may not have realised if I'd not already had a working rope release version. I really like the Spigarelli, so it irritates me that you were fobbed off because of a fault, "cheap" item or not, it didn't work as the manufacturers obviously intended. Being ex-retail staff myself, I'm glad you and your brother spent the £300 elsewhere rather than put up with second class service. I live miles away from any archery shop I have found online, so bought this one as a "learner" item until I know enough and have reason to travel to someone friendly where I can try out different ones. You could hand me a £200 chocolate something or other and I'd have no way to know whether it was "good" and suited me or not at my level of experience (newbie). I have the cash to buy anything, but seeing how many designs there are, I didn't want to run before I can walk! Many thanks for your advice, much appreciated. I called Quicks and they're sorting it out, no arguments. Regards Ivan

Poor handle design too.

| This was the release I first used when I started shooting compound - couldn't hit a barn from the inside using it. Swapped for a Carter Target 3 (which I'm still using today) and it immediately added 80 points to my score. Bin it and buy a Carter. Adam

| Hi Adam, How is it that your sig file spaces your setup differently from all the other posters? You have far more characters to list your bow, arrows, sights etc than normal? You - Sight: Sure-Loc sights, Beiter 39mm scopes, 0.75 lenses (48 characters) Me - 20 characters limited per field!! Regards Ivan

re the quote from alt services "...My brother explained this to Alternative Services and was fobbed of with the response that it was a cheap release an what did he expect..." I find that outrageous. With a family of four archers I have spent a fortune with alt services over the last six months and will think again! I have noticed they have taken their phone number off the front of their site (used to be in the page footer) and often don't answer the phone! | |||||||||||||||||||||||
