| The AMO standard is the only recognised way of measuring draw length. That is from the throat of the nock at full draw to the throat of the grip, then add 1.75". | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Hallelugha, at last it's starting to get through!!! |

The throat of the handle of, say any 28.5" AMO bow (correctly adjusted) will be the same distance from the nocking point at full draw, but for most people the angle and height of the handgrip play a big part in determining the archer's exact arm position and extension and therefore the draw length they, personally need on that bow. So what is getting through at last? |

I agree with Kae and the rest - the only way to be sure is to go to a decent shop. I didn't, took a chance, and it cost me the price of a new Mathews cam.

| Thanks Moose, I see so many disappointed folk who have bought their ideal bow on ebay or mail order only to find it aint no good for them. What I meant when I said "it's finally getting through" was the fact that archers are realising it is prudent and cheaper in the long run, to go to a dealer to be measured for their bow, talk about their needs and be advised on any aspects they do not understand and also to try before you buy! |

| As usual..... We have lots of different answers as is usual in the field of achery.. Sorry I didn't look it up in the GNAS manual of guidance. Is it in there? I did find this though http://www.accuratearchery.net/arrow_selection.htm In Accurate archery's shop in Florida.- quite useful, similar to your answer Magic Squares and Greydog too. Thanks for that. It seems I need a 30 inch bow. But, I may be able to cut about 3/4 inch off my arrows before they fall off the rest! So.. what is the recognised overhang???????and.. do I get to use a less stiff arrow? But as you all suggest- try before you buy.. hey ho, a long drive ahead Last edited by Davros; 24-01-07 at 09:24 PM.. Reason: added polite comment |
