Unhappy Help !

I hope someone might be able to help or point me in a direction.

Got a 2005 Hoyt ultratech, which I bought new, so I know its history and had no real probs.... UNTIL, a couple of weeks ago a tiller bolt popped from its hole in the riser, stripping the thread with it.

Had no joy trying to contact Hoyt, so I took up the offer of a repair,, which has been so unsuccessfull it's beyond belief, in that a drill bit and helicoil are now snapped down inside the hole,,,,well he talked the talk.

Has anyone got for sale a 2005 Ultratec riser, Cheep, as I'm skint, or can anyone out there make a successfull repair in as short a time as poss,,, as I've promised to shoot with my son at Clayton on 18th Feb.

If anyone can help I'm contactable on 01766 762332..

John D.... (Feel like desperate Dan right now )

Bummer dude, I know its no good to you now, but you should of taken it back to the shop you bought it.

When you say tiller bolt, which one do you mean? Is it the main bolt that holds the limb in? or the smaller ones at the sides of the pocket?

Kae.

Did you talk to the shop before you attempted to repair the bow? as Far as I am aware from the forum any guarantee is Via the retailer and that should be the first port of call, though unless it was them that attempted to drill a hole in the riser they are not going to be very interested.

I am guessing you are not going to find a riser for sale, you may be better buying a similar bow that way at least you have other spare parts from the first bow.

If you post which Limbs and Cams you have here as well as the Model and year, someone may tell you if they fit other models or years in the hoyt line-up you may have more luck if you are not just looking for 1 riser.

Is the drill bit snapped below the level of the riser or is there a small amount standing proud?
Could you post a photo?

A friend of mine has just bought an Ultratec from Wales Archery which was built from parts while he was there.
They pulled a riser from a drawer to do this and I think it was an 05.
Give them a call as they have a good stock of parts (they are one of only two official Hoyt distributors in the UK)
It may be possible to spark errode the drill and extractor out of your riser.
In my experience screw extractors tend to be a waste of time and only make things worse.

Yes, kae I know It should have gone back,, but I live deep in the highest hills of Wales (and NO It's not a sheep thing, Ha !) and a journey of that distance at this time of year is dreaded thought, and I'd have to take it rather than post it, then they'd have to contact Hoyt then return it to the states, advise me of the outcome, then return my answer, (once edited) , then to's and thro's for a couple of month's followed be my bow being returned with bit's missing and so on and so on..... you know the script.and before you know it the 2007 season would be over, and I'd have missed my chance to be world chanmp once again,,,, BaH Boo Hoo !!

As for your question on which bolt,,, my luck would only allow it to be the main Bolt which holds down the limb pocket's, as oppoased to the locking bolts on the side, they'de be no prob to sort,

Thanks for your thought's and good shooting for the future.
