Limited Compound

I have just checked the scores for the various standards ( MB etc) and found out that even though I shoot with the disadvantage of no release aids and no optics I have to shoot the same score to get a Master Bowman as an unlimited compound shooter. Isn't time that GNAS did some thing about this, after all there separate records for compound limited shooters, why not separate standards.

Good point, ask AUK see what happens (But don't hold your breath)

How many of you are there?
Last thing we need are more divisions however. IMHO

As far as GNAS is concerned we have been around for a while so the division all ready exsists.

I would guess that teh rpoblem is like that of Longbow classifications, only more so. The levels were determined as percentages of scores submitted to the enquiry team. For recurves and compounds this produced a standard progression that has been remarkably accurate over time (though it is being revisited at present). However, there were so few longbow scores submitted, of such widely variable levels, that there was not enough initially to base classifications on. This has improved as more scores were received. So how many Limited Compound scores have been received? Given that I have only seen one being shot in competition, I dare say very few. Records are nothing to go by, as what you need is a consistent picture, not just the (by definition) freak results!

There are Limited Compound classifications for Field Archery where they are treated the same as for recurve. By the way Furface, where did you see the Ltd Comp being shot ?

Incredibly, at the Yorkshire Indoor Championships 2005! The archer in question normally shoots longbow, but (sit down for this bit) had broken his wrist (I think) and was shooting this way because he could tolerate the pain better than shooting the longbow.

Do any Ltd Compound shooters any tournaments ? Will you be doing any in 2006 ? I didn't do many last year due to problems with both my Merlin bows but I'm looking forward to doing plenty next year as I've done in 2003 & 2004. Ones I've tended to do have been Chippenham (Apr), Lilleshall (May), Osterley (End of May), Winchester (May), Ampthill (July), UK Champs (Aug), Guildford (End Aug) among others.

I will be going to some tournaments next year I am thinking of having a go at the nationals. At least there i will have a good chance of shooting against some one in the same class.
