If you are carefull, you can get two screwdrivers, draw your bow back a little (like an few inches) and slide the screwdrivers through the cams so that they lock against the limbs (cover where they touch the limbs with a tea towel or something) This will leave your string and cables slack enough to work on. When finished, draw the bow a little and the screwdrivers will slide out.......it will depend on the shape of your cams and how they are machined though

Better off getting a Bowmaster field press IMHO or calling into your local dealer, I can see all sorts of potential if you slip on that one.

Personally I'd just leave the d-loop pulling the peep into line rather than try that!

Think I've now answered by own question.

I've been doing some testing this week with a D-loop directly behind the arrow at rest, and one where the D-loop is well over 90 degrees out.

If the nocks can rotate easily on the string then the arrows hit the same place on the target with both versions of the D-loop. But if the nocks were slightly tight then there was a variation in arrow position on the target. But both grouped consistently.

noting wrong with carefull use of screwdrivers and or allen keys as described by grey dog. Much better than a portable bow press as I dont think you will end up with a broken finger screwdrivers fail (which they cant) or something far more serious of an injury.

Other than you cannot make cable adjustments with the screw driver method.

Why do you say that? It all depends on whether your cams happen to have holes and things in the right place, but in principle, rotate the cams by stressing the string and you can work on the string, rotate them by stressing the cables and you can work on the cables.

Now, how good an idea it is to use use a Redneck Bowpress at all is another matter....

You can't pull the cables?. If you do your just pulling the string tighter?.

Only way to slacken the cable is to over strectch the string.

If i'm wrong someone needs to demonstrate this too me........mechanically i can't see how it would work.

I have merlin rapid cams on my bow with plenty of holes in for " a brace " to work on the string, still can't fathom how you;d work on the cables.

Brace your thumb on the limb, put your fingers over the cables, squeeze cables towards limb, insert allen key or whatever - cables slack. Do the same with string (not at the same time!) and string is slack.

Can be a bit sore on the fingers, but works no problem at all - try it.

Or,

Unbrace bow, put twists in string, rebrace bow.......

No need for screwdrivers/allen keys etc.
