Looking for a quality compound sight, choices, choices, choices!

Hi Guys,

I have a standard boring type of sight on my Browning Vanguard II but would like to buy a really nice one for the currently bare Hoyt Supertec.

The Hoyt is in Limited Edition Flame Silver, so a silver version would look nice.

Looking at one of the four following, so would like some advice:

Sureloc Supreme 400
£210 from Quicks, £175 Bowsports
I hear the 400 is preferred over the 550 as it is lighter, but shorter.

Sureloc Supreme 550
£210 from Quicks, £175 Bowsports
Supposed to be one of the best.

Shibura Ultima
£145/£185 from Quicks, £135/165 Bowsports
Is Carbon worth extra £40 over the alloy version?

Copper John Evo 2 ANTS
£189 from Quicks, £160 Bowsports
The 8" FITA version is for Recurve and Compound so would be better for resale if I need to later. The 5" is compound only. Thoughts?

Many Thanks,

Ivan

this has been discussed at great length on other threads
the sure locs are not 30-50 pounds better than the shybuya or copper john, so although all are good sites be aware you are paying through the nose for the sure locs which are no more perfect than the other sights you mentioned

The Sure loc any day of the week, you can take the scope off easily with a quick release without losing your sight mark.

Go for the 400 version, most people don't need 5.5" of vertical adjustment.

I've found that the sure Loc which is what I use at the moment is very limited on the windage but the Copper John has much more adjustment. My advice is to take your bow down to one of the shops that has an indoor range and ask if you can try out the stock. Find the right one for you!

How much windage do you need?

You set up the scope in the holder so that you are centered on the adjustment, if you then need more adjustment than is available you are doing something seriously wrong.

I shoot both indoor and outdoor and have the sight centered for indoor. When I shoot outdoor and the wind is alittle high as it does from time to time I run out of windage adjustment. I then have to move the scope shaft in the barrel of the sight and so have to set up all over again.
Am I doing it wrong?

I use the Sureloc Challenger, the 6" short frame one. With the lighter bow-mounting bracket (availabel separately). Seems to be good value for money to me, I can't se what in the Supreme is worth £100 more...

I also use a Beiter scope, half the price of the equivalent Sureloc scope and very good- lots of variaiton on iserts so you can get it set as you like.
