Axis FMJ and 100yds

Hi everyone

As last night was so nice I decided to go and shoot outdoors at the club.

The only long distance target was out at the 100 yd mark so I thought why not just shoot at it rather than move it to 70mts.

Guessed a sight mark and hit all six grouped in the Blue but low.

Moved the sight down a bit and started to shoot the next 6.

1st arrow I noticed the fletching come off as it left the bow but I put it down to it being loose. 2nd arrow missed to the left I thought crap shot. Only on the 3rd arrow did I notice that the fletching was stuck under the bubble of the scope..

I have the sight almost at the bottom of the range but the large diameter Beiter scope now catches the top fletching.

I am shooting 400 Axis FMJ with 125gr points. 52# Bowtech Old Glory

Should I change to a 110 or 100gr point or move the sight bar in or out as it is currently set about half way?

Or should I try somethig else?

Thanks

Errrr, move the sight bar!

I never understand why people are so reluctant to move the damn things.

Kae.

Sorry, wasn't meant to sound like a dig.

If you move the sight bar in, then it shortens the distance between the sight and your eye, and thus the angle is greater, so the arrows go further.

Rule of thumb, in for distance, out for short range.

Kae.

I'm shooting 100yds with Axis FMJ's Hoyt Ultra 38 43lb at 27" draw. In fact when I was sighting They were flying over the target out to about 140yds. The block is about 3/4 down and there is plenty of fletch clearance. The only other change I have made is moving my peep up by 1/4" for outdoors.

Although I shoot a recurve I have just shot at 100 yards and did not have to bring the sight in, as I did with my old SX10.Enough clearance all round so I can shoot from 20 to 100 yards with only the recticule to ajust up or down. One less thing to worry about for me.

Not so good - pulled the sight bar in all the way and still not enough clearance. I think the problem lies with my setup. The drop away arrow rest could do with coming down a bit at full draw, that or buy a smaller scope housing.

Have you tried moving your peep? A surprisingly small move of your peep up the string will give a lot more distance. Try it and see if there is a position where you are comfortable and hit the gold.

I agree, moving mine up by 1/4" moved the sight up by 10 marks
