Saturday Night Special

Just Bought a New Release from CBA, really nice little 3 finger release by Spot Hog, suits someone like me with small hands, It is also about 1/2 inch or so shorter in the body than my Insatiable. It looks really well made and is good value for money.

Still playing with the trigger tension and thumb position to suit me and getting to grips with activating a release correctly after a valuable and long overdue coaching session while I was there thanks again guys. But so far quite positive will see how it goes.

So did I (did we not chat about the Axis arrows in the shop yesterday?)

The release is destined for the Mrs but I had to try it yesterday. The nocking mechanism is a bit fiddly. The trigger is different in that it has a very long travel but only the first milimeter of it is for activation. It also doubles as the cocking mechanism.

I also purchased my set of outdoor arrows yesterday. A gorgeous dozen X10 Protours with Tungsten points. Although I promised my self I will not shoot them indoors..well, I had to try one at least. So off to the club I go. New shiny arrows on. New shiny release aid in hand. Steady hands and start the draw and BANG, thumb touched new trigger which is set hyper sensitive. Result, new shiny arrow imbeded 3 cm into wodden rafter somewhere near the end (after punching a neat little hole in the safety net). All attempts to removed it failed.

The hall officials (belonging to a local gun club) were summoned and they has a great laugh at my expense (not counting the price of the damned arrow). Promises to bring drills, jack hammers and chissels and try to extricate before club night next week.

Moral of the story: when trying multiple new purchases, try one item at a time.

That was me , I actually made it out the door once without buying anything. Then I succumbed, need to set the release to my liking yet, very small adjustments make quite a difference on the release, and I have not got it yet, it feels a lot different in the hand, not bad just different.

Hope the rest of your arrows fair better. Moral of the story: when trying multiple new purchases, try the most delicate/expensive bit last .

And I thought here's a cool man who won't succumb easily to temptation.

"when trying multiple new purchases, try the most delicate/expensive bit last"

I will second that, memorise it, print it and frame it.

Good luck with your release aid.

Steve

Steve, I've told you before..........you are a release-a-holic. These conditions always get you in the end.

Congrats Steve that must be the easiest Fonz ever awarded I think we need photos before they hammer it out .

I am really happy with the release now after a session of tweaking & shooting a blank bail today, I have decided 2 finger is most comfortable and suits the tiny release. I increased the tension a bit on the trigger (probably too late for you now ).

Cheers Dave for the award.

Geoff, release-a-holic does't even come near. I have bought three new release aids in the past week. Help urgently required.

Simon, the verdict on the arrow shaft is still pending. The last time I saw the arrow it was 4 cm into solid wood. Three maintenance men promised to come with appropriate "delicate" gear to get it out. I am holding my breath. I asked you what was the benifit of the tungestin points, I now know. That shat would have shattered with an ordinary one. Cheers mate.

Steve
